Zoosk(US) was converting mid-fours & 115% ROI overall for me on social with micro-demographics. When I tryd to scale to a self-serve media buy platform, with creatives using my FB images and copy, it started converting like shit! Is it my creative (doesn't mention Zoosk, just generic) or the traffic source? I realize 100 bucks isn't shit for testing, but I was surprised at the awful results...

Prosper shows ~15 bucks made on 3 conversions.

Sorry for posting this shit here by the way, I thought the fact that I was alrady converting warranted being able to avoid the ghost-town newbies section.

strong newbie question...but that screenshot is which interface?

A noob calling another noob a noob. LOL.

Adbuyer sucks. You are baiscally buying torrent traffic. If you want better traffic bid $3 - $4 dCPM.

lol adbuyer lol...

Bro, you need to realize that you are trying to monetize RON remnant traffic...the hardest and the crappiest traffic out there (in the whole world of display advertising), that the big networks can't monetize at the CPM you are bidding. Assuming you are buying from RMX (right media exchange), you are competing with players like CPX Interactive (who work with 20 advertisers like zoosk) and they are giving you traffic that they themselves can't monetize.

Unless you are getting paid an uber high CPA, or unless if you have super-sick creatives (that generate super high CTR and response rates), or unless you have an offer that these big ad-networks aren't already running, it's going to be VERY tough to actually make money buy buying remnant traffic on the exchange.

Not much of a fan of RMX myself. Yahoo display has some sick traffic you can buy through there. But the exchange itself I haven't had much luck with. Not saying you can't make money with it, just hasn't been easy.

I'll jump in here, since I run AdBuyer. Sorry you didn't get great results, but as others have noted, buying Right Media blindly isn't generally a good strategy for success unless you've got great creative and/or better performing offers than are already running through the exchange. It will cost upwards of $5K to find the pockets that work, and it's not guaranteed.

Alternate strategies include:
1) Use our free Audience Profiles to understand which TargusInfo data segments are actually converting for your offer. We'll be adding Exelate within two weeks. This will allow you to micro-target just the segments that work. So even if it's crappy inventory, you can pick off the most attractive audience. You need to own your landing pages here, but it can be effective and let you do re-marketing as well.
2) Buy through the Google/Doubleclick exchange, also available through our platform. We use a real-time bidder to bid only on the impressions that are likely to reach your CPA goals. This still takes us time (and money) to learn, but can be higher quality inventory than RMX. The tradeoff is that they are more stringent about what can run, so you need high quality offers that you're committed to.

Note that all of the smartest display marketers are largely using some form of audience data to enhance their inventory and micro-target audiences. We've got integrations with Exelate, TargusInfo, and AlmondNet, and a few others on the way.

I would say this is probably the best ad network response I've ever seen on wickedfire. It was both informative and helpful.

dating sucks on wednesday in general. probably the worst day of the week for it.
