seo & one page jquery websites

recently i've been experimenting with jquery navigation. I can make a great looking layout with smooth transitions from page to page, however technically this would mean that all of my content is on one page as per google.

does this negatively impact SEO to have 10k+ words of content on one page?
 


It's a very complicated subject, and the link dchuck dropped is worth a read. Lots of ways to do this. I however have never been a fan of trying to attach javascript to an 'a href' element as mentioned in the tips part of that article. I've in the past hidden a link on every page that basically pointed to an mass index page (similar to a site map) that had links to every page on the site that a spider could crawl and view in non javascript fashion and it worked well.
