Ok so thought you might find this interesting. Girlfriend bugging me about getting a ShamWoW cause Im such a mess. Went to the Mall yesterday and find a kiosk where a guy is selling the ShamWoW. He shows us a demo of how it picks up the spills. And I couldnt believe it a Crowd starts shit people really are mesmorized by fucking cleaning products lol. Anyway bought our set for $22. Then I started talking to one of the people at the koisk and found out those little booths pulling in about 8-10k a day over the holidays at the malls. Not bad when you looking around on the cpa networks you get $10 cpa a sale for Shamwow. So Im going to hire some college students rent a kiosk and start doing similiar things myself test it out. Several other hot products I noticed at the mall Rosseta Stone and Hand Cream from the "Dead Sea".

FYI Rosetta Stone at LAX airport location generates over $1mil / year. It is their #1 location for kiosks.

A commission on Rossetta Stone must be sick, those sell for like $700 a lesson I think.

good luck beating the israelis on the dead sea hand cream stuff. there was an article about it in WSJ a few weeks ago, I'll see if I can dig it up.

Gotta remember too... he is probably talking about:

1. Gross Sales.
2. Higher sales days than normal.

During the holidays, malls get flooded with people. All other days I'd expect significantly lower traffic.

Even still, if you can hit another 1-2k / day on gross sales, awesome.

Haha, bought my dad a shamwow for Christmas (gag gift more than anything, but they thought it was awesome) and my bro got Rosetta Stone. Guess that means my family is full of sheeple.

a good fried of mine set up a kiosk here in LA at the Del Amo mall selling the dead sea cream stuff....he made a profit but not enough to justify continued operation based on the $/hour he was making.

It's really hard. Bid on copyrighted terms and don't get caught.

haha, naw I'm just playing. I got that offer direct, you cant imagine the markup that these networks pull on people. It's a damn good offer.

I wouldn't doubt the cash ShamWOW is pulling in, there has to be a huge profit margin on them, just a cloth, can't be too expensive to make.

I'd take something like shamWoW over a beauty product any day.

shamwow is just chami cloth. it's been around for years to clean cars without scratching, etc. goes to show that having a good marketing campaign is a powerhouse, and that you can push anything to people if you're persuasive enough.

i wonder how to open those little kiosk at the westfield mall and what product would sell the best
If you're looking to do this sort of thing, don't do it at Westfield. Their rents are OUTRAGEOUS (at least at the ones in Australia, and since it's the same company I assume the USA is the same). My old employer had a kiosk that was maybe 150 square feet and cost her 17k/month in rent alone.

edit: Also, usually if you go to the mall website and go to "contact" you can find a number for store management... they can tell you what they need for you to open your shop.

The dead sea sales people work strictly on commission. Thats why they pounce on every potential customer walking by their kiosk. These sales people make upwards of $200-$400 per day in a regular month and probably triple that in December, provided the mall is half decent with the traffic count.

Yes, Westfield is one of the most expensive ones out there, but they also have some of the best malls (mostly on the west coast of USA). They have the highest sales/sqft compared to any other mall property owners.

If any of you that are considering putting up a kiosk type thing and are near a military base I would suggest looking into putting one in a base exchange (AAFES). They don't charge rent - they take a (negotiable) percentage of your sales, depending on your business model it might be a good place to at least try things out.

Fair enough, I guess it all comes down to profitability!
