So I was driving my mom somewhere around 1PM, didn't know I was that fuckin tired. Was driving in the right-most lane, overtaking cars, until I realised my eyes were shuttin down on me (was dozing off) and when I got up I was too close to the back of a truck. and i was like, aww fuck!

I tried to avoid it by gently steering a bit to the right, I think it lifted up the left side of my car cuz I was going pretty fast, and that made me almost hit the divider thingy so I tried to stabilize the car by turning the other way but my hands were too tired from lack of sleep.

This happened 2-3 times coz I was trying to avoid the truck on the left and the divider on the right.

Nothing happened but few cars behind us kinda lag behind afraid something else might happen.

We pulled over and I almost threw up, felt sick to my stomach.

My mom prayed to Allah and I thought it was funny coz she was never religious. She was asleep during the incident btw, but realized something bad was about to happen coz the car was shaken really rough.

I'm an atheist but it's shit like this makes you wanna believe in something that don't exist.

TLDR version, lack of sleep, almost died, now back on the grind, working harder than ever!!

Live life to the fullest coz you might die tomorrow.

Thanks for all the relationship that WF has brought me and if I ever said something hurtful, sorry.

Glad you're ok bro, I've almost fallen asleep at the wheel once. Very scary experience, taught me if I feel at all tired, pull over and stop somewhere for a nap, doesn't matter where.

Thanks man, the thing about these things is you always underestimate how tired you are until you doze off. So scary lol.

I have driven the car when totally asleep and I know how hard it is. Thank god there were no much vehicles around when I was about to doze and the car went a bit to the left side but I managed to get to normal when my eyes became wide open realizing that I was driving and not sleeping. Good to see you didn't become a part of anything serious.

I slept with my eyes open once. My passenger thought I was ok despite us careering towards the car in front at a high rate of acceleration, so he only shouted out and reacted at the last second, and I was able to swerve and miss it (pure luck that the other lane had a space, because I didn't have time or the faculty to check).

I had been fighting sleep for about an hour on the motorway, and I guess my brain just thought 'fuck it, I'm shutting down whether your eyes are open or not'.

The old woman in front was apparently looking at our car the whole time in the mirror, and must have shat herself as I unwittingly played chicken with her in my state of waking-sleep.

I didn't pray though. Just cussed myself, and changed my driving behaviour from then on. Moral is, don't fight sleep whilst doing anything other than sitting at a desk - you'll lose.

Yeah, lack of sleep is a lot more dangerous then alcohol...

I bumped into a van full of Chinese once when I was deprived of sleep

Asian people do things like that all the time - even with plenty of sleep and being spiritually centered.

Get some rest and lay off the MSG.

Haha, I don't understand why the Asians are targeted here, while the most dangerous accidents due to microsleep happen in the U.S.?

Crazy, I think almost falling asleep behind the wheel has happen to everyone, your case is a little more severe then mine lol, when I start to nod off I put the AC on open all the windows, and turn up the tunes.

Glad you're OK dude, I've been there myself. It's an extremely scary thing, I've actually had a friend fall asleep and crash coming home from a road trip, she didn't die but another friend of ours in the car did die. It was tragic to say the least. Pull over and take a nap people.

Your mum a muslim and your an atheist? I'd have thought Malaysian law force everyone to convert to Muslim once a family member converted.

Always pull over, and sleep it off. Even a quick 20 minute nap is all you usually need to get through the drive.

WEEEEeell It kinda does. People don't realize how freakin dangerous the side of the road is (from people like OP fallin asleep and shit ;)) but yeah go to sleep in a parking lot or rest area or something. Cars are surprisingly comfortable for cat naps (this is where I would spend my lunchbreaks when I had the 9-5)

You as a driver asleep at the wheel is far more dangerous than the side of the road.

If you feel like you're too tired to drive pull over ASAP. Don't try to make it 'just 5 more miles' to the rest stop.

The best trick I found is to "force" the passenger sitting besides you to talk to you during the whole drive. Ideally about passionate topics that you know you guys will disagree on lol... best sleep killer.
