I've been reading around and there seems to be so many problems with adwords accounts being banned, Google slaps and so on. I wanted to ask is it because affiliates are doing something wrong or the whole business is built around these shady practices ? One question I didn't get answered before is can you build one stable campaign and expect it to perform for years ? Can you build a stable business on AM or do you always have to read many different ways how to cheat adwords so you won't get banned... Thank you and once again apologies for stupid questions...

Like any business, you need to keep learning and adapting to change.

Crest toothpaste has been selling what is essentially the same product for decades, but they are constantly changing packaging, tweaking the ingredients, finding/switching retailers, modifying ad campaigns, etc.

What I wish they told me when I was a noob.....

With this question, you're further along as a n00b than 99% of the people who ever come to the n00b section. So pat yourself on the back! The only real stability is an independent source of:
1) Traffic
2) Offers

You need your own list and you need (eventually) your own product. You can start with an indepedent source of traffic - your own list.

From now on forget most of what you read if it's not encouraging you build your own list. You can build a stable business when you have a list of people who have bought something from you (or through your own affiliate link) and who know, like and trust you.

Instead of sending people to affiliate offers, send them first to an opt in page by offering them someting free (discount, free guide, etc).

YOu do this because you want to build trust. Do you see my autosignature??

Instead of 99% of people on here, I am offering something free to build trust. Once you have trust, you can start a conversation with them.

Imagine if everytime you opened your inbox you had people emailing you saying "hay so and so, I was thinking of buying abc, but you gave some really good advice so I sad, hey instead of buying from some stranger, I'll buy from you!"

Imagine that. Free traffic!! No more worrying about google, social bookmarks, facebook ads, ppv, media buys, xrumer, wordpress seo plugin....myspace, twitter....the list goes on.

Imagine if you got 10 emails a day for people buying $50 products.

All you need to do is build a list of BUYERS - people who are willing to invest in problems and solutions, whatever it is someone is selling - and sell to them over and over again.

Start with what you like....a hobby, what you do during the day, whatever. Well, just think of some sort of free guide, ex
"10 places to find xyz for cheap"

Once you've saved someone some time or some money and made their lives easier, every time you send them an email you are more likely to have that opened.

People spend money everyday. That's the name of the game in the 21st century - social capital. There's too much choice out there. Just make it so that you become an expert - a go to guy - in something - and you can make a great income on line.
It's basically monetizing "word of mouth" advertising/marketing. They say that's the best there is right?

I hope this helps you - I wish someone told me when I was a n00b. Good luck!

Very true. A really sharp affiliate gave me a free PDF detailing all areas of affiliate marketing, including: product selection, keyword selection, link cloaking, opt-in list generation, etc, etc. It was all direct and honest, and detailed everything but building a website. He didn't mince words, or pretend to be some holy mother f'er - Just straight up "how to". He is in with some major affiliates, and does send emails about joining various networks. But I trust what the guy says, and he is always sending out free cool shit "how to make a quick $100" and stuff like that. When I'm ready to use the stuff he suggest I'll probably use his aff links.

I'm sure he's a member here, and the guy knows how to cultivate a relationship. All because he gives out stuff, that he would sell on DP for $30 or so, he has me as a potential future customer.

If you're a noob, adwords can be the toughest place to start. Start on ask.com, then bing, yahoo, then adwords for the final x3 revenue punch. In that order. This can be a stable business but you HAVE to diversify. Don't give more than 25% share to anything in this game and this applies to offers, traffic sources, affiliate networks unless of course, you're just starting off with a limited budget.

You should point out to the noobs, lest they become confused and think that the traffic sources you discount are a necessary pre-requisite source to the free traffic list that your business model relies on, that they must seek out and find.... the magical lead tree, source of opt-in emails and giver of life!!!!

well, try other free traffic generation methods first. Put Adwords on hold :) You need to truly understand Adwords from inside out before decide to use it or else, you just throw money down the drain. There are lots of other free but yet effective traffic generation methods like article marketing, socialbookmarking, etc. There are 101 ways to drive traffic to a site. Good Luck !

I don't want to do SEO at least for now. I don't care if I throw money down the drain as long as I learn something and get somewhere. Obviously my budget is limited but I want to approach this as somewhat of a real business.

You're being silly - and not adding substance to the conversation. Do you have statistics to back up anything? Or, cute but useless gifs....

Moving on....

IF you implication is that the search engines are the only main source of traffic - you're not well informed.

Google only has 10% of the web indexed - and I'll put that in your likable text for those who're interested in real research.

Now tell me how Sherlock, how much of traffic flows through the previous traffic source vs search? Compare email penetration to search penetration....

Now go back to watching cartoons until you have something significant to say....

thanks for the links riddhusetgal . Would you be interested in talking about finding such databases and profiting from them?
