I've been lurking here for some time, reading lots and in particular the blogs and links from blogs of some members. w/out being too cheesy, thanks are in order as I've learned a lot already.

I've also started my first campaigns now with both adwords and facebook. I have a fair bit of learning still with adwords but facebook seems pretty straight forward. One thing I was wondering however was about the suggested minimum bids. The niche I'm trying right now is showing at about $0.4-$0.5 as a suggestion. Would you typically try at this level or do you set the bids lower in the beginning? What percentage lower (or higher) would you try, or is it more a matter of trying different ones and then watching performance?

I understand there's more involved than simply the amount you're willing to pay that will get your ads higher placement possibilities.

Thanks,
Chris

Your questions cannot be answered without more information. Everything depends on the niche, payout, conversion %, etc.

All you gotta do is test. Spend $100 @ $0.40 and see how many conversions you get. Bust out some simple math, figure out what CPC is best, tweak your lander, ad copy and get that shit profitable.

The country where the ads will run also makes a difference. The US will always cost you the most.

Decide how you are going to target your audience. Location? Age? keywords?
Then, decide on the ad. What image? What text? Is someone already promoting something similar?

depends on your niche/payout. higher payout means you can spend more per click (assuming your conv. rate is decent enough).

just keep testing. if you think the campaign could be profitable, try different ad copy. test test test.
