Teh Next Facebook

I could hardly believe the amount of money diaspora got through kickstarter... if you were following though, 100k+ of that money came AFTER they were toted in a NYT article.

Facebook privacy was a huge issue at the time... this "company" solved that "problem"... and NYT ran with it. 24 hours later, they had made over $100k in donations.

Pretty good marketing if you ask me.

who the fuck would bump an old thread

What I think about is Firefox that took a huge bite out of IE marketshare as well as open-access Internet that killed AOL walled garden.

This could be done, hope these guys figure out how to actually make it work.

but seriously any links to learn more about how they marketed firefox and killed IE share?

People want to be exploited and that's the primary reason why Diaspora will have a hard time succeeding. Otherwise, Facebook wouldn't be around.

Any alternative to Facebook needs to be 18+ and include an IQ test before joining, with minimal value of at least 90. Only then it MIGHT be used as originally intended and not suffer from 24/7 teens passionately discussing their lunch.

Been following this Diaspora stuff for a while now... and guess it's useless to discuss if Facebook is good or bad or what they must change, we are talking about another option that could be or not, a better one, Diaspora.

It will always catch my attention the possibility to do as I want with all my info, ideas and thoughts with no need to sign an agreement that takes from me everything that I post and Diaspora sounds like that option... on the other hand, everything that enters the www can be reached by someone...

I actually want to believe that people have no idea about Facebook T&C otherwise they really don't care about privacy, and I am not talking about blocking this guy or the other dude, I am talking about copyrighted material.

The question is if everyone knows about Facebook T&C

Cheers!
