Here are some tips for those who are new to aff mktg. they are based on what I have learned over the past year.
Rule #1, don't spend a great deal of money and time "training". If you keep chasing all of those promises for easy money you never get the work done that creates the income.
Rule #2, if you don't know how to do it and have a little money, pay someone here to do some of the things for you.
There are people here who create landing pages, content and links to your site via social bookmarking and directories for really decent prices.
Since aff mktg requires testing, learn some html so you can change the color and pictures, etc. on your web site. You do not need front page, dreamweaver, etc. You can edit the file with a text editor such as notepad.
Rule #3 do your research. You need the right market and the right keywords and if you don't do ppc because of the cost you also need some patience.
Rule #4, content is important but not the be all and end all. Write articles and do article marketing. Only one or two articles a year won't get you much. Add pages to you site on a regular basis. Add a blog if you can write frequently on your topic and blog every day for the first 30 days or so and then at least 3 times per week. Keep it interesting
Rule #5 Make sure all of your offers are relevant to your content. A visitor to a health site is not very likely to buy camping gear or shoes.
Do NOT trust most of the so called "gurus". Many of them offer crap because they believe in the so called "perceived value" rule. If you try something get through it in the first 30 days, so you can return it if it is useless.
This is the end of my beginners lesson. Aff marketing is great deal of work, don't expect to through up a crappy looking site with a few ads and make much money.
