I got this dating blog I started a few weeks ago.

I used one time 120 stumbles one day. I got a crazy spike of like 1000 uniques.

Since then, traffic has been rather confusing.

1. According pMetric the visitors come by batches... i get like 10 unique visitors all at 3:03 am... then another dozen at 4:18. Number of actions is usually an even number.
2. Nobody, and I mean NOBODY click on the adsense adds. Got like 2000 impressions over the last two weeks. not even ONE click.
3. Traffic pattern is strange: around 75 uniques, then I get a day with 300+ then around 60-70 again, then another spike 3-4 days later.
4. Nobody comments
5. Most of the referrers are stumble ( which alone, might not be a bad thing)

So i am wondering, is this humans, is this some kind of spider, bots scrapping, borg cube learning how to pick up women?

This being said...

1. What could this be?
2. What your favorite traffic tracking tools for blogs?

PS: I can provide screenshots of stats if needed.

Ya, very few people are up at 300am, unless its 3am in your timezone and midnite somewhere else.
As for the traffic trackin, try to google it and see what comes up. Google can be manipulated if you work it correctly!
Good luck

batches of visitors are common with stumbleupon
when someone gives your site a thumb up it's like he was saying "this is cool" and SU sends a bunch of others, if they give it a thumb as well it attracts more and more visitors
if they don't give it the thumb up it just look like a bunch of people decided to visit your site simultaneously.
My stumbleupon traffic is exactly as you described, except that sometimes someone clicks here and there, but I don't really know if the clickers come from SU or organic results

it's difficult that you get bot traffic if you never paid for it
I use statcounter

I expect batches of people, but what I'm surprised is that the batch come at the exact same minute.

How about Adsense: How bad can your ad placement be? I mean even if I had a 1 % click tru rate I should have 20 clicks by now.
