Twitter Targets 1 Billion Users, Challenging Facebook for Ads

Well it's about time. Sure they needed time to build a user base and reinforce their presence in terms of daily usage, but it took them 4 years to come to the conclusion that maybe they should offer ad possibilities.
It was the right move, no one really expected anything else.

twitter is increasing its popularity by local celebrities .. most of celebrities are tweeting regularly than facebook ..
time may decide it..

Im unsure how they could target ads besides geo. Their mistake was to not collect that data from the beginning. Age, interests etc just like fbook. Imo twitter traffic is garbage

Right now I could really only seeing big companies really paying for advertising on twitter.

Off topic, but when twitter and facebook state 500 million billion users, you think these are "unique" members?

after all, many ppl have multiple accounts, and vendors sell 1K accounts for $10.- You think facebook in actuality has more like 10 million users (max)?

yea I dont think FB has 500 mil unique real accounts, but I would bet money its much more than 10 mil

What a heated competition between the two. It's smart for marketers to use them both to see which brings in the best results.

I knew Twitter had a lot of users, but 1 Billion - that's huge.
