Say you are trying to rank your homepage url for a kw. (domainname.com). I am wondering if adding unique content to your website will help your homepage url rank better, even if the unique content you've posted is not displayed on the page that you want to rank for? (homepage). I have my posts in wordpress going to domainname.com/page/2 and etc. So the content isn't actually being posted on the homepage.

Google ranks Pages, not websites.

so then I'm to post all my content in the page that I want to rank for? (it would make that page long as fuck though with my 15+ 500 word articles) most other people ranking usually don't do that from what i've seen

A lot depends on internal structure of your website + links. Don't place all your content on one page.

All this extra pages of content can actually bring you some nice long tail traffic which may be nicely targeted.

Agree with that. I have new site with high google ranking because of internal and external links.

Concentrate the most competitive / high traffic keywords on the homepage
And use internal pages to rank for the lesser competitive & long tail keywords.

Youll not have much luck ranking all of your keywords on one page!

Have a look at Google Sniper. Its a course which you may find interesting on this subject.

Deffinitly add content to homepage 1st. But then deffinitly build out the site too or google will think u have a 1 page mfa site.

Yes! The rankings of your homepage are effected with the unique content that homepage may not be linking to. It increases the trust of your overall website and the homepage gets ranked higher on relevant keywords
