I've got a video site that seems to have been de-indexed and am trying to figure out why...

Most of the vids are BBC ones posted on Youtube, but no copyright complaints or anything there I can see (embedding hasn't been blocked, no ads added).

Adsense is still on the site...

No BH stuff, in fact I haven't really bothered with any promotion other than a few links.

I'm just going to wait and see if it comes back, but wondered if anyone has had similar experiences?

Do you have any other content on the site besides the vids? Earlier this year google said they were going to crack down on sites consisting only of youtube videos and no other unique content.

This, and what was the total # of pages, total # indexed before being thrown out, and what was the ratio of links to pages?

If your videos were coming from Poto, I can totally understand why they've been banned :D

More on what Rockhard said, are you providing the content on your own host? Or just linking through to others? If you're linking through to others, and some of them are Hulu, that could explain a few things.
Ever since Viacom weighed in with Hulu, they've allegedly been in talks with Google about slapping people down for linking to their content on sites that aren't social media driven...
... or so I've heard

They are pretty much all youtube vids, with little other content.

However the site is very WH and obviously provides value to the user - which a manual reviewer should see - by bringing together content on one subject in an easy to navigate manner - much easier than trying to find them all on youtube. I actually selected, posted and tagged all the vids manually so it wasn't spammy. People had commented on some of them and it all looked ok.

Got a feeling it may have been some auto thing seeing just a load of youtube vids. It's focussing on a UK music festival which is coming around again in a few weeks. I was planning on adding more vids... think I'll add some original text to each one this time and put em up on a new domain, see how that does.

The #1 cause of a ban is jealous competition. If your site has anything against the rules, you'll get reported.

It's not impossible to think that you were turned in for dup content and whoever took the complaint just dumped you.
