Alright, this is probably a pretty stupid question, but I figured I would ask it anyway. Yesterday I got in on the whole 50% off HostGator shit and bought a VPS. I went with Level 1 because I really don't need more than that (at least for now).

Anyway, I talked to the HG Support Tech and he said that having a VPS would decrease my site loading time for all my sites, since I would no longer be on a shared hosting server. He said that a VPS is not exactly "my own", but that the loading time for my sites would decrease.

Is there any truth to this? You don't get cPanel with the Level 1 VPS... You get this Virtuosso shit which is pretty confusing so far.

Is my loading time for my sites really going to decrease (noticeably) or is it not even worth it to keep this VPS and go through this Virtuosso? They have a 45 day money back guarantee so I can just refund it if needed.

The tech you talked to is a complete idiot. Unless Hostgator throttles the CPU usage on the VPS plans or oversells the VPS nodes... in which case Hostgator still sucks.

In my experience a VPS will always decrease loading times on a site. I just quickly checked on some packages I have and a shared package I has average speed per kb of 0.3 and for a vps 0.02.

I think subigo made the same mistake I initially made. I don't want loading times increasing, but decreasing? Yes please! :D

lol, yep. Someone else just read this and told me about it. For some reason the original post comes off as "will a vps be slower". Fucking words, they be hard.

Sorry for late reply... ya, I came off the same way on the phone and asked if it would increase my loading time... but I quickly corrected myself haha.

-God-, thank you for that screenshot. I am going to go ahead and get the VPS and see how much of a decrease I get.

i've experienced quite the opposite. I bought VPS for PPV strictly because I needed faster loading times, and I've noticed quite a difference...
