1, If I get a website done on freelancer ( for example I tell a webdesigner that I want a website that looks like xyz.com and functions like that ) then how will the website be placed on my server? Do I have to tell him my hosting password or what? Or does he just send me the files? How does it work?

2, Is it dangerous to use a pirated version of the thesis theme
( just an example ) on my website? I mean, can I get sued for it or fined or something or is it highly unlikely because how the hell would I be caught?

3, If I want some minor changes to be made on my website then how can I get a freelancer to do it? Should I just send him the files or should I give him the password to my hosting?

I don't want to give out my password, it's obvious. I have no idea how these things work.

1) He may give you files as long as you are able to upload them on server yourself. If it's a handmade dynamic website then you will have to ensure all connections work etc. It is for you to judge if you are capable of doing this.

3) He can work on you server or change the files he had previously and give you the files and then again you have to install them yourself if you don't want him/her to mess with your server.

Than again you may give him temporary access and change the passwords afterwords.

Just some thoughts

Learn how to upload the files to the server yourself (it's just good to learn how to do shit sometimes) - giving out the pw just isn't worth it, even if it is changed.

1. If the website requires specific scripting technologies, the developer would need access to the hosting account to upload and configure it. If it's a simple HTML site, then just have him send you the files and upload the site yourself.

2. Yes it is dangerous to use a pirated theme. I answered this question on your other thread.

3. I would just give the developer the server's password. Freelancers deal with many sites and they usually have no interest in causing your site harm.
