I really like the look and feel of GetMenus.ca. Am I allowed to "borrow" their background image, and then create a site based on the same colour scheme and general layout of theirs? Obviously the sidebar content won't be the same, as well as some major content and link changes, but it will strike a resemblance. Any problems with this?

It would only cost you about $50 for a graphic like that to be done fresh. Any good designer can crank that background out in an hour.

Agree - you dont need to do a direct lift - something fresh along that theme and style can help give your site a unique take on the niche.

yeahyeah yah!

yo, yeah... do the right thang.. don't rip off someone else's hard work so you can cash in on it.. if you really really really want it.. email the company.. ask them if you can use and buy the background.. or get in touch with the designer... perhaps they can sell you a similar design.. or same with some slight differences....

If background image is what you are interested in, take a look at this tutorial hxxp://www.talk-mania.com/web-layouts/37340-urban-layout-perfect-web-design-company.html (replace 'xx' with 'tt'). You can easily convert city buildings into abstract one. Hope this helps!

I just a background image! no one will notice if you make a fresh design and the background is the only part ripped. And it's not even cute!

Not a bad looking site, but holy crap, what terrible writing. The grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure is awful.

Other than that, I agree with what others have said; you can either make your own funky city skyline background yourself, or hire someone else to do it for a few bucks.
