Just curious what ranks faster wordpress or blogger? Reason I ask I have switch over from blogger to wordpress and i notice with blogger since its a partner under google that it ranks pretty fast in google search engine. However, it doesnt rank really well with yahoo. So im also curious with wordpress do it get rank pretty fast in google or yahoo..

thanks

are you talking about a wordpress.com free blog or a wordpress install you host yourself? Because those are two entirely different animals.

Yeah I prefer Wordpress over Blogger, it gives you a lot more control, the only real downfall is that you basically need your own host for wordpress, well ok not really a downfall it'll just cost you an extra 10 bucks a month or so depending where you get your hosting from.

Well, just to clarify for others you don't need to pay for hosting if you use WordPress.com » Get a Free Blog Here

Downside? adsense,YPN, etc not allowed. Affiliate links are ok if it isn't too spammy.

Well, if I was going the free route, which apples-to-apples would be wordpress.COM vs. blogger, I would go with blogger.

However, if you are wondering about hosting it yourself, i.e. wordpress.ORG vs., say TypePad or some shit,. then the obvious answer is wordpress. Why? Well, it's free, for one (except for that whole $8 for hosting) is extremely versatile (I, for one, only use wordpress as a "CMS" for all of my sites and hardly any look like blogs). And you can get TONS of useful, hell, almost mandatory plugins. Additionally, they come "out of the box" very well suited for SEO purposes.

Thanks everyone for the comments.....Well I guess wordpress is hands down the fastest to get index...I just had to ask because my first blog i ever start was with blogger and it seem like i got index pretty fast and in the top 5 in google for my 1# keyword. So just seeing if it wordpress is the same. thanks

doesn't matter. just have a good ping list, inbound one way links, and good content, and you will get indexed not "ranked" as you say.

still not sure wtf you were asking really, but i assume u meant a free blog on either of their domains. if that was the case, it really all depends on your links, your content and how competetive the keywords are. gotta love that parasite hosting.

Well i was talking about blogspot and wordpress not the free one... Yea i know it depends on links, content, and how competetive the keywords are. With all that said any done just curious which would rank faster...I'll find out starting this week I'm starting a blogspot blog and a paid wordpress blog and give it about a month and see how it goes...

Most of my Wordpress sites get indexed in a few hours to a few days. Normally the later one to 4 days.

Ranking well for different keywords is a different game all together.

How fast you get indexed is a function of how easy you make it for the SEs to find you.

If you have a PR3 or higher, you get indexed on a daily basis.

At PR5, I am getting multiple spider visits every day.

Organically, unless you have high authority backlinks coming in, you won't be indexed easily whether you're on blogger or wordpress (hosted or .org).

The alternative is to buy an expired domain with PR3+, or use a BH method to get yourself indexed.

---
Anyway, if you're blogging, and you submit to high authority RSS and blog directories, you should have PR3+ backlinks coming back to you pretty quick.

Else you can game squidoo, digg and a host of other methods.
just go pick your poison.

Try msn's livespace too. I was seeing them all over the serps for a while.

Thanks andrew & jdog for the great insight....Well i have a couple of blogs with page rank 3 and 4..So your saying is that when blogging everyday on blogs that have good PR that assuming how competitive the keyword or phrase is that you should get index for that keyword pretty fast once the spider comes along?? Like for example I'm blogging about Blue widgets, so when the bot comes to index me i should get index and rank for that keyword if its not so competitive??

thanks

This is fairly WH in nature, but what you can do is to create a blogspot blog farm (comprising 5-10 blogs or more), include links in the posts as well as the sidebar to your hosted wordpress blog, so it'll bring organic traffic and help it rank in the SERPs.

If you want massive traffic, I'd write orig content or scrap content and post 4 to 6 times every 24 hours, making sure to include affiliate links in your post. (i think your goal should be monetization via web ads or affiliate mktg, or CPA).

You could spend some time queuing 100 posts (about a months worth of content) to your blog, then let it auto publish and come back later to add more content.

in that way, your blog will be self publishing and you dont have to mess with it every day.

---
besides organic traffic from SERPs, i'd shoot for social traffic which you can engineer from sources like digg, reddit, squidoo, mybloglog, bumpzee and wherever you'd like to pull traffic from.

you've probably seen my previous posts, where i have mentioned that it's important to have a system in place, that way it'll be more organized, and your traffic will be more targeted and predisposed to buying.

i'd go for 10,000 targeted uniques than 100,000 untargeted ones.

Thanks again andrew....Where's that post regarding " It's Important to have a system in place?" Thats what I like about wordpress that blogger don't is that you can post 30days of blog post an have it self publish.. However, great points...Getting 10K targeted uniques could take some time thats not a problem!!
