Hey,

Need some suggestions on the risks of running an affiliate network. What bases should I cover, so I won't end up like the next guy to flee the country? In other words, what must I watch for so I don't get hit with lawsuits or get a bullet down my throat.

Thanks.

Have a huge bank roll to float payments as some advertisers won't pay you for 30 days and big & good affiliates are going to want weeklies.

Have money to lose if you float that and the advertisers don't pay you don't go belly up.

Watch for fraud. This is a huge issue these days. If you don't know what to look for, you'll quickly be fucked by some shady fraudsters from China and India.

Alright, well I do have experience in the field. Comfortably making 5-digits a month. I will surely make it a priority to pay on time.

But, I don't think my bank roll is large enough to float weekly payments for super affiliates, or the room for chance. Would it be a good idea to first pay them on NET 15 terms until my team can evaluate the leads and see if they are backing up on the other end before bumping them to weekly pay?

With fraud, we plan to be extremely strict when it comes to that shit. No leniency in that sector. Since one publisher may ruin it for the rest of the publishers if the advertiser decides to drop out.

Thank you all for your suggestions. Learning.

All the affiliates who are going to do any volume are going to want weekly payments so if you don't have the capital for that and/or to lose in case you get fucked over by an advertiser (which it doesn't sound like you do) then I would seriously rethink starting a network.

Perhaps this is even silly to bring up, I mean you and your affiliates know this already... But anyway...

Having Disclaimers, Terms and Conditions, and Privacy Policy on their site and yours might save you some time and money. If I ever get to your stage, I might just have to "borrow it" from someone else.
