I like yoast because I feel it does more than the other SEO plugins, plus he seems to understand the basics pretty well and actually does SEO himself it appears although I don't know that other than from speculating.
You're assumption is correct. I work in MODx for the company I work for currently but am helping a friend with his Wordpress website. Figured it couldn't hurt to ask what everyone uses since everyone here is knowledgable as hell.

Thanks guys. Seen a lot of anti-Yoast posts recently saying the plugin deranked them... but it was probably some ass who got his site hit and needed a good fall guy.
For SEO I really like the Yoast plugin, it gives me much more control than the AIO plugin I used in the past.
