When/how are cookies assigned?

I'm running a couple of PPC campaigns right now, and I've been sending between 20-30 clicks per day to my advertiser's sites (that's about 50% CTR).

Then, nothing happens. I'm wondering if I'm missing something here, because I'm not getting any leads or sales. Is there something I have to do to make sure I'm getting credit? I'm sending them from my landing page to their sites via my referral link, and I have the tracking pixels implemented.

Could be that they aren't converting (depends on the product, eg. for me some only get one sale in 200 clicks and some are 100%) or that it takes a long time for sales to be validated. Also, cookies get deleted/blocked by some anti-spyware programs, and if they're surfing at work then some IT departments make sure they never get downloaded. And, of course, some programs are a load of shit and cheat you.

it could also be that the person decided to do some research on the product and came across someone else's affiliate link. If they clicked on someone else's affiiliate link, it would override yours. More likely though is what kifiannan said...it may be a product that doesn't convert to sales well and you may have to dump it.
