(Yes, I tried the Search here first) Can anyone recommend anyone who's good for buying old domains? I'm just looking for a domain that's about 6-8 years old. (PR and Backlinks matter too, but that's not my point) At first I went to the most obvious place, Sedo, but I see nowhere that the domains are sorted by age - does anyone know if they do that?

I also Googled obvious terms like "old domains" and came across yourmaindomain(dot)com, which seems to do a decent job of sorting by age, but are they reputable? Has anyone here dealt with them?

Are there any other reputable domain sites I may have missed which sells old domains, and has good sorting?

I really don't know of a site or tool that categorizes domains that are for sale by their registration date.. Will look around for one now though since it's a good idea ;)

Here's your best bet. Go to popular domain name forums (dnf and namepros have very trustable members with a huge pool of domains). Post your request in the "domain names wanted" section. Include your exact requirements for the domain and be sure to include your budget. Here are a couple links to get you started:

I have had lots of look finding decent domains in specific niches there. You will find some old domains by fishing around those waters, guaranteed. Most reliable sellers there wont sell to a newbie unless it's thru escrow.

Thanks folks, those are 2 interesting forums, and the Filter function for Age on freshdrop is pretty cool. Does freshdrop sell the domains (like Sedo), or is it like a clearinghouse for multiple domain resellers?

Try snapnames.com or namejet.com

For age and history try archive.org

If you need a ballpark guestimate on the value of the name go to estibot.com or look at similar names on namebio.com

old domains r of 2 types. Once which were dropped and registered again. Stay away from these as they wont offer much value from the SEO point of view. The gems are the ones 10+ years old. But check out their history carefully before u buy them.

Old can be of value as long you do serious due diligence regarding it history. That is very vital when it comes to all domains.

Try searching with our auction domain names database at my website DomainSuperstar.com. We port in domains from GoDaddy and Sedo and you can filter and sort the domains with a lot of extra criteria. There is also a place where you can set up personalized domain alerts for yourself to receive emails when domain names meeting certain criteria become available.

Buy old domains

Confused ?? Why the hell on this planet are we selling old domains ??
Here is the reason (Tested and confirmed) :
Old domains have high trust value in the search Engines. If you start a site on a new domain you will most probably get in the google sand box (a phenomenon through which your site will not rank in search engine for 6 months to one year or some times even more).
Now google decides this sandbox period based on the age of the domain. If the Domain is older the sand box will not be applicable to the domain. This will result in a direct ROI on the work you put in on your site.
We have been collecting old domains from people from long time and now we have old domains on almost all themes. Some of them have an age of 12 + years.
So if you want to buy an old domain feel free to contact us and we will show you the domains related to your niche which we have and the price range and you can select from amongst them.
Contact us with the niche you require old domain and we will get back to you.

If you are not sure which service your site needs feel free to contact us for a free SEO lookup

due diligence

As mentioned before, do your research.

Make sure you don't buy a domain that was previously owned by an idiot and is now banned from G.

Why you don't try to search on freshdrop.net? There are many choice of old domain and with PR too. From freshdrop you will redirect to TDNAM. However you have to smart to choose the better domain.
