Why do the huge registrars not hire an arbitrage expert?

Can you imagine how much type in traffic registrars like GoDaddy receive every day free of charge to them? Sure, they already have landing pages but just think if that improve their conversions by as little as 3%, that comes out to be a huge increase in revenue.

If I were an arbitrage expert, I would send a proposal to some of the registrars to work as a consultant and ask for a small flat fee and a % of the improvement.

What do you think?

Because when you are that size its better to promote your own business. The potential value of a customer is much more than arbitrage revenue.

Are you telling me an arbitrage guru with access to that much traffic couldn't be making $XX,XXX/day? I can think of few companies that wouldn't like that.

Haha- not a bad idea... maybe I'll pretend to be that and then outsource the work to one of you guys here :)

i am not too sure, but maybe it is not a good idea to piss off e.g. google by doing arbitrage in such a magnitude as e.g. godaddy could do.

google on their part could e.g. de-list godaddy and that would be a very bad day for them ;) just guesswork from my sde, but maybe there is a little truth in it.

edited: hey, look what i found. google does it already :)
Google AdSense for Domains

they provide white-label adsense ... smells like adsense, looks like adsense, but there is no term of adsense mentioned ;)

But at the same time, Google usually gives the big players extra privileges that the smaller players dont get.

I still think they could make a killing from their landing pages.

Registerfly decided that I didn't renew a domain name (when I did) and they just put up a parked page on it; I'm sure they brought in a few hundred dollars off that until the domain got de-listed from the SERPs.

Why would GoDaddy mess with a few pennies when they're already raking in millions? I have to agree with cyberworkspace on this one. Why would they risk getting de-listed? The formula they have in place is obviously working. And if it works, let it be.
