Has anybody ever tried "spamming" Xbox live users? ie, get a huge list of gamertags (or whatever they're called, I don't use Live), write up a message about something relevant (for instance, Gamefly), and send them out? Would that be doable, or even feasible?

I've had somebody do it to me. Invited me to a game, which was then canceled, but I got a message from them later about some offer.
I guess it's feasible, but I'm not sure how many people are going to be willing to jump up out of their seat and go to the computer and type in the domain.

That is why you have to use a short memorable domain, and you need to know the gamer world. I wrote a post on the same deal, marketing to battlenet.
