So, when I upload watermarked videos and slideshows I'm getting this copyright warning about half the time... "Matched third party content".

I guess they are able to scan the content and match it... Any way around this? Anyone else having trouble with this?

No... Just uploading a song with a still picture slideshow.

Could it be my title and keywords? Or are they recognizing the song itself?

Doubt they're recognizing the song. Re-encoding it would get rid of the footprint, wouldn't it?

I would guess they're recognizing the song, as they've been working on a system to prevent unauthorized songs and music videos from being uploaded.

change it. If it's a video add a watermark, for a song add .01 seconds of silence somewhere and try that

Yeah, you have to do some alteration, especially in terms of length.
If you have a proper song title, artists name in title &/or keywords and your repost equals the original in minutes and seconds, you're going to get a notice.

Add a leader, trailer or both and jigger your titles/keywords.

I think some labels are cataloging their stuff with YouTube. More obscure songs won't get flagged but anything popular seems to be getting caught. I recently had to jump through HOOPS to get a popular rap song to stick. I ended up having to basically remix the whole thing. After several edits, the version I finally got to work had vocals added in places they didn't used to be, as well as the beat completely dropped out in three or four places.

I did this by downloading the a capella as well as instrumental versions of the track (which luckily were available) and mixing and matching stuff.

Hardly worth it in the longrun. YouTube is on top of their shit, it seems.

If the warning's what I think it is, it doesn't really matter. Universal Studios does it for all videos that have even a snippet of their content. For example, if you use a tiny bit of a Rihanna track in your vid, that warning will come up.

They normally won't take any action though, the only difference is that there will be an ad for Universal Studios on your video page.
