On your landing pages, do you typically ask for zip only, or do you try to gather zip+email right off the bat before continuing on?

I have noticed my conversions go down 3x when I ask for email - but I have no real concrete data to say if the actual signup after that step goes up or down in either situation.

Any insight?

are you talking about zip/email submit offers?

i have no idea why else you would want someone's zip code..

I think it wouldn't hurt to try to get their email for any offer because if they don't convert, you can always try to email them to try to sell them.

zips are easier to convert but they get scrubbed really hard. Emails less so, but scrubbing still happens. If you have a website that gets international traffic then some of the email submits outside the USA can convert like crazy. International networks seem to scrub their email submits virtually never.

Please be more specific. What would be their motivation(s) for scrubbing the lead?

If a network scrubs traffic, this means they are not paying an affiliate for a lead that they generated, usually on the basis that the lead doesn't convert or isn't profitable for them. But you see they can make up any excuse. I could be sending 100 actual leads to the offer every day, and they only report 80. This gives them some free conversions every day.

n00b question: what's the motivation behind the scrubbing? I have plans to run these, and it looked so easy...
scrubbing is unfortunatley a part of affiliate life. Maybe I can understand a network scrubbing email/zip submits if the lead quality is shit. But scrubbing anything other than these is a scam.

I wonder if anyone could prove this and start a class action.

With email/zips many networks advertise "no scrub" which is absolute bullshit. As far as being easy to convert - they are super easy. You just need to know how to do them.

Thanks. What about the offers that say "no scrub"?

Edited to add: Never mind - question answered before I posted.
its a little trick by the networks to get you to run the offers. Its bullshit of course, the network has no control over a merchant who decides to scrub so don't believe it. But many no scrub offers can convert well for a day or so.

I love the way the zip submits require so little from the end user, and have big plans for them. I'm putting together a lifestyles site targeted to a very specific niche, and I feel that a 75/25 mix with the larger figure requiring no cc from the end user would work best. I will include freebies and sweepstakes, as well as the zip submits. I think I will do very well with a content rich site, and lots of small payouts.

The payout doesn't really matter to me, as long as there's lots of conversions.

But many no scrub offers can convert well for a day or so.
Run the no-scrubs for a day or two, then replacing them with another no-scrub is what you're recommending?

I do understand both POVs. I just did an AB test and showed that I'm actually getting 4x the zip submits without email there. However to me the data is almost useless.

My offer requires full address/email/zip info. So I thought I'd get their email up front so I can remind them of offers later. That's not working. But so far there is no visible increase or decrease in the full offer submit.

So far it looks like it would be of value for me to collect zips, compare geo - and find which AREAS convert best, then require email submit before continuing on to the full offer. That might get the best results.
