I've seen a few leads for freebies that say they convert on the first page zip submit. My question is - why? They dont get any info on the page but the zip code. Whats the zip code do? Its like an email where they can spam later....

Anyone wana shed some light on this?

thanks in advance...

It works the same way as an email submit, they try to collect information about their user on the next page after they submitted their zip. Then try to get them to sign up for offers through coregs.

It is a pre-qualification. The zip carries no value, it is just to confirm that the user is interested in offer and in the right mindset to enter personal information into a form.

Statistically, people who give out information on the first page, even something as simple as a zip code, are more likely to complete the rest of the form on the next page.

In fact, i have a whitelable offer in the service industry and i get paid on a service request form. Originally i just had a click-through to the form. Then i added a city/state/zip Database and put a zip submit on the first page and then the full form on the next page, with the zip, city, and state filled in. My CR went up over 33%...

great explanation.

Thanks for all the info on zipsubmits - its makes sense. My question though was more along the lines on why it converts on the same page? Like if the lead was to just submit their zip and exit - it would still convert but they don't get any of the spamable info...

Yes, which would overall decrease the potential profit for the advertiser. Which is why you see very little zip submit in existence now.

simple sales states that you should get the respondent to say "yes" on a very basic level to get the prospect into a purchaser. this principle is applied in many zip submits, the user is more likely to give more information on the second page if they feel a less threatening introduction to the offer (like entering a zip code).
Many advertisers stick with the email submits though and there are very few zips %age wise.
