Business credit cards, what you got? Amex is pissing me off.

Just to also add to this...

I know I guy from college that would take out a 1k from the bank and then pay the loan off with his credit card over a 6 month span, so each month he was paying $167 from his MC to the loan. At the same time, he was paying $167 to his MC for that too, so the MC would be paid off and no debt carried over month to month.

Im not sure what his available credit was compared to his actual debt for doing all this, but he said he was under 20%. So in 1 shot he was double dipping and building his credit up on 2 loans at once. He ended up getting above 800 credit score from all that.

Nice one but how do you pay back loan with CC ?
When I started out, i didn't have a credit card though so it worked for my personal credit.

Thought I would apply the same to my business account

Who are you banking with that is giving you those kind of limits on a debit card?

I listed them above...

Chase will do it, but you have to have a good standing account, funds in the bank, and be willing to wait. Their technical limit is 99k a day, but this will take some time for you to get.

The easiest jump is from their standard limit to 30k a day. After that you need to have a really good history and funds to move up to 50k, 75, and then 95k.

Cititbank will give you 30k a day off the bat if you put in 500k into a checking account with them.

Some of the investment firms also own their own banks, once of them has 1 branch only in Neveda and they will do 25k a day off the bat as well.

Moving up is just a matter of time after your first big jump. Not all banks will do this as I have called around. The only other bank I know that will do something like this is PNC bank in their private banking offerings. Also, for Chase you have to have your branch manager put in the request for these jumps

Depends on the bank I guess.

If I take a loan out from my bank, I can just log into their online GUI and sign in and access my loan. One of the options is making a payment on that loan and you can tie it to a bank account, CC, etc.

Ah. Never checked that.. I usually set up an ECS and just forget about it as my primary goal was credit.

I'm also grandfathers in on my plum card. It's nice to make 10k a month just from spending money. 2% discount FTW.

Thanks for the ideas but I don't think it should be this difficult to get approved for some simple business credit.

hope you not getting that as cash back and your American..

cash back is taxable and depending on your fed tax bracket and state taxes, you could effectively only be getting 1% when said and done.

If not, then enjoy!

Morgan, care to share what beef you have with Amex anyways?

I have three businesses and my newest one I want to get a card for. Right now I have a platinum and gold cards and I wanted a cash back card but they said because I have gold and platinum cards already they denied me for the simply cash. So when I applied for this new card for this new business because i was denied from a previous app even tho its a new business within 60 days of applying for that card I was automatically denied. I've paid off my platinum card every month for as long as I had it and my gold cards every month and have had balances of mid to upper 5 figures and some months 6 figures and not had a problem paying them off at all. My credit score is close to 800 and I don't have any debt. I called in and asked why to dispute it and they denied it again so I called again this morning and gave the lady the reference number and she said that there shouldn't be a reason why they wouldn't give me a new card for my new business considering I've paid off my card every month in full for the past 2 years. So I'm kinda pissed right now as you can imagine.....

Difficult? Do you realize lots of banks have put the clamps on giving out credit and loans the last couple years?

You said above in the thread your not able to get credit and "it's a cycle of bullshit". If you really want it you need to dig in and try. Everyone's suggestion above could really get you started in the right direction but it seems like you might want the easy way to getting the credit and not putting in the work.

Either your trying to get credit at the worst possible time in financial history, or your personal credit isn't up to par with what these banks want in order to give you biz credit. No matter what the reason, your not getting it right now so you might wanna put in some effort and take out a simple loan on the biz and work your way up.

If your putting in apps like you say and not getting approved, then your doing something wrong and you need to change what your doing. If you don't wanna do the work then enjoy not getting the biz credit.

I can see where that is frustrating. The big problem is this... at all these banks they simply hire warm bodies to pick up the phone after they go thru a 3 week training course. I couldnt tell you the amount of times I have called a bank and gotten 50 different answers from 50 different people on 1 problem or topic.

I just hope some idiot didn't get the app the first time around and fuck it up for you, which is now causing you issues. I had some lame ass employees at a couple banks fuck up my shit and had to go through months of getting it fixed because they did or told me the wrong info.

I'm really big into getting problems solved instead of brow beating the idiots that work at these companies. If Amex is giving you a run around the first thing I would do is figure out how to solve my immed. problem which is getting a card for my company and I would just try a few other banks at first, then later work on Amex again at another time when you get a more experienced customer service agent on the phone.

word, just applied for chase ink plus, right now I'm just using my new business debit card.

SPG Amex card is still the best IMHO, free hotels and flights. I have not come across a better card for points benefits, including chase. The spg card is only $45/year.

From the savings on hotels, I make back more than 2% and it's tax free.

Also Amex customer service is so much better than any other card I have had. Sounds like you just had some bad luck.

Amex used to be pretty easy to get into for business without a D&B credit file if you had great credit and a personal Amex. Just got another credit line increase today without asking, and still haven't bothered opening my D&B file yet.

Amex is picky, though, if you've applied for another card or credit line increase on a personal card in the last 6 months - then you probably won't get a card. Keep this in mind if you're looking to open an Amex business card.

you're all doing it wrong. gotta back date your business to show them some history. then it aint nothin

Yes and when amex asks for your 2 previous years tax returns and 4 months of bank statements you plan on backdating and making them up how cause they go directly to the irs for your company returns. I should know they did it to me.

and then thats when you provide them with all your filed taxes... ;)

rule #1, find a way. it's possible.
