So i was out on a boat ride in inner harbor in Baltimore yesterday. It was so relaxing and peaceful, being on a boat on the water was just totally awesome for me. Then it crossed my mind, why can't i just live on a boat?

I mean i'm sitting here thinking about what car i want to buy, and if i should start renting or buying a house.. but they are things i don't truly need.

I have a full time job, but if i can make a full time income online, I will seriously consider it. I am only 22 and I would probably only live on a boat for like 2 years tops, but I just think the experience would be amazing. I'd live on the water in hot weather .. damn..

It's definitely unconventional, but it could potentially be awesome. Anyone ever thought of this?

You will go bat shit crazy after a few months....

Its something to consider and strive for as a little retirement plan, fun trip down the road.

You're young..live it up..enjoy your space and freedom.

My ant actually lives in a boat in london. It's pretty nice but it gets kinda cold in the winter.

You're here and didn't tell me? Gah. Hit me up man I'm not even 10 minutes from the harbor!

I know a couple that have lived on a boat for like 15 years. They just go from atlantic to pacific visiting kids and friends.

Know a couple of people that live on a boat during the season (off season they rent an app. because water freezes), really love it

The Baltimore harbor is beautiful. I went there last spring, loved just walking up and down the whole area. That newer developed section by those new condos/apartments (not really sure what they were) looked like an awesome place to dock a boat, so sounds like you'd really enjoy living there. It's not like you're trapped on the boat 24/7, you can always go out and check out the restaurants and bars in the area, catch an Orioles game, etc.

I don't live in baltimore, i was visiting yesterday for a corporate event. I would probably move somewhere warm if i decided to do it.

To the person saying i should live it up.. that would be my idea of living it up. I mean i would have a boat as my house .. i'd still go out and stuff, then just tell chicks to come back to my boat lol.

i'm gunna check out this other thread.

On a side note to those that live in Baltimore, we went to Di Mimmios for dinner .. holy sh*t i got the veal chop, it was the biggest dinner i ever had, food was amazing too.

There's boats and there's boats.

The 50th time you smash your head in the gangway of a yacht, it loses some mystique. But they can travel a long way quite cheaply.

On the other hand, a large motor launch can be better than any apartment you're likely to rent, but costs hundreds to thousands a day to get anywhere.

Depends what you want out of it.
