Backlinking strategy question

So, I've built/am in the process of building a product review site about "portable blue widgets", portablebluewidgets.com lets say. I'm ready to begin building backlinks from web 2.0's, submitting spun articles to directories, etc. however, I'm not sure exactly where to point the links/anchor text on the site. I've heard advice concerning ranking your inner pages rather than trying to get the domain/homepage itself ranked, but if so, do/can you create backlinks to each page from a number of the same sites?

Basically, I plan to do backlinking in the same way as Pat Flynn as described here:
THE Backlinking Strategy That Works

As I said, my site essentially is a review site of "portable blue widgets" which I plan to monetize via affiliate links to Amazon. I have five unique 400 - 600 word reviews of specific products in the niche right now, and plan on writing/spinning some articles covering some various topics/tips involved with "portable blue widgets" to place on the site for content as well. My point of confusion is essentially, do I go make a hubpage, squidoo, ezine, etc. for each product page that includes anchor text with the specific product name as well as anchor text contaning "portable blue widgets" somewhere else in the article? What about the additional articles on the site, should these all get their own series of backlinks too?

Or, would creating the backlinks directly to the homepage which displays all of the reviews be better? I would assume you couldn't go "wrong" backlinking to every page, but I'm also not sure if this would be worth the time or if it's even smart to backlink from the same site to all the different pages, even if they were completely different and unrelated "ehow" articles for instance.

Thanks a lot for any input, this is my first shot at this so I'm a little in the dark on some of these details.

Then search "facebook coupn code" in google and get 50 $ free ad credit.
Use bidvertiser 20 $ free ad credit .
Write in google " xrumer service" and you will get more than 5 sites, offering the service for free for 7 days , Use all they 5 sites.
and done :)
Nothing to do here actually hehe

Use A Link Wheel Model

Muninn:

The basic approach in "The Backlink Strategy That Works"
is very sound.

A simple way of expressing the same process is to set up
a Link Wheel where your "Money Site" (review site) is the
center of the wheel with the spokes of the wheel huperlinked
to the money site with keyword anchor text.

You will want some links to inner pages because you will
set up some pages for long tail (low volume of searches)
keywords.

Besides the obvious free blogging platforms to use in
your link wheel here are some sites where you can create
anchor text backlinks:

Create a Blog Site - FREE Blogs - Thoughts.com

Free Viral Traffic

Qondio - Content is Power

https://posterous.com/

AboutUs: we know the web

Instructables - Make, How To, and DIY

Make your own magazine - OpenZine.com

OK. That's enough to get you off to a strong start.

Best of success,

Robert

Build links to all the pages. Don't leave any out.
Then build some more.

Alright, thanks, will do. I'm wondering now, this is a review site as I said.. should the links I'm building to the individual pages (containing the review for a specific product) be targeting the keyword of the site ("portable blue widgets") or should these be targeting the specific name of the product (portablebluewidget123, portablebluewidget456, etc).

Also, is it important when making these sites/pages pointing back at mine to do it through a proxy or different IP? I've heard of doing this but I figure this would apply to those making a shitload of spammy backlinks with software like xrumer..

Thanks!

In the past I have always used the more broad terms for the actual domain, used category pages for product name searches and the individual review pages for the long tails. You'll probably want to rotate your anchor text on each page too. I normally stick around 40 to 50% main keyphrase anchors then just use random smaller volume keyphrases to make it look more natural while trying to pick up some longtail searches.

Using a proxy is for creating more than one account at teh same website, or spamming crappy links to protect against your more legit accounts being banned from multiple accounts from same IP.

+rep for the share Robert. Couple of those I hadn't found yet :)

Move to your dad , take his Credit card , go to entropay.com

Fail. Entropay is fucking gay. I created an account with all the credentials needed, then was told I needed to be "reviewed for security purposes" and was asked for 5 verification documents. The info in those documents would have given someone my whole identity. Screw that eh.

So sorry no +rep for you bro

Target The Commercial Keywords

should the links I'm building to the individual pages (containing
the review for a specific product) be targeting the keyword of
the site ("portable blue widgets") or should these be targeting
the specific name of the product

Muninn:

It is much easier to rank highly for specific product names. Besides,
when an individual types in a product name, he or she is likely to be
in the buying mode.

So, product name keywords are often referred to as "commercial" or
"buying" keywords. So build those links to the "buying" keywords.
