Okay, someone PLEASE fill in the gap here, this totally isn’t making sense to me. Okay, so all I’m trying to figure out is a guideline for optimal permutations when doing demographics testing on POF. I'm trying to break apart Riley Pool's case study:

Case Study: Using POF Conversion Tracking to weed out non-converters. | RileyPool.com
Case Study: Using POF Conversion Tracking to weed out non-converters. | RileyPool.com
Case Study: Using POF Conversion Tracking to weed out non-converters – Phase 2 | RileyPool.com

He starts out with:

Images: 103
Ad Copies: 1

So 103 images with the same headline and same body text

At the base he’s testing:

Gender: Male
Age : 18-24
Login Count – 1-50

In one of his comments, he says he’s down to about 70% of the images after about a day or two or testing, so let’s just go with 70 to make things simple.
Using those 70 images, he then goes on to split test ALL of the following items below, he has conversion rates for EACH of the variables, which would lead me to believe that he’s testing each item independently. There are roughly 50 demographic variables listed below, times that by the number of images(70), that means we have roughly 3500 ads to test. What the F*ck!?!

His Ending Campaign Stats Are:

CPC $0.2468
CTR 0.218%
Conversions 149
Conversion Rate 14.069%
Revenue $484.25
Profit/Loss $222.88

How does he gather all that independent data only having spent $261 Dollars?
I’m so confused! Thoughts, ideas, how are other people doing it?

Conversion pixel?

I know what a tracking pixel does, it just reports your leads from your CPA Network to Tracking 202, OR does it do more? that I'm unaware of

Nono.... I guess what I'm trying to say, is that he's tested
70 images with 50 different demographic variables

so that's 3500 ad/image combinations

having only spent $261.00?

if a cpm costs roughly 50 cents, if he's looking to get a 2000 impression sample size on each combination, wouldn't cost a few thousand to test?

hurr?

a conversion pixel for pof fires on conversion, like your prosper, to pof ads. then you get that report that breaks it down.

it's not rocket surgery.

Yeah, I get that, so when a lead converts, it tells your prosper 202 & POF ads that you have a converted lead.

What I don't get is how he's testing all those combinations, so for example, given his original targeting which was:

Gender: Male
Age : 18-24
Login Count – 1-50

Let's say he's split testing body type:

Campaign 1:

Gender: Male
Age : 18-24
Login Count – 1-50
Body Type: Average

Campaign 2:

Gender: Male
Age : 18-24
Login Count – 1-50
Body Type: BBW

He split tests 50 of these variables over 70 images (3500 combos), wouldn't that cost more than $261 to test in order to get a decent sample size? I'm told that you want to run each at for at least 2000 impressions before u give up on it.

NEVERMIND

"Plenty of Fish has recently implemented conversion tracking into their ad platform. This will show you the exact characteristics of your converting users. You can use these reports to take a non-profitable campaign and turn it into something that will help you regain the money you lost testing and ultimately turn a profit."

He is not testing all the combinations, POF provides that conversion data when you place their pixel. Or what Matt already said.

Didn't you already just create a POF thread for this?

Yeah, got it, I'm using EWA right now and my tracking pixel isn't working for whatever reason, I'll need to ask my AM in the morning about that.

Yah, I made a thread identical to Gray's, it's a case study, won't be updating this thing anymore, is there a way to delete it?

Is a sample conversion report, which is found in the cross tab report for each campaign (scroll down). So get your AM to install that conversion pixel ASAP to get access to this super valuable data! If the network requires an https pixel, simply add an "s" to the http that we offer.
