I guess this kid is 10 and has only been playing for a few years He's fucking better than I could ever hope to be. I hate these little prodigy pricks. Check him out. His Bon Jovi cover is pretty damn good.

Pretty fucking good.

And on a side note, I had no idea that song was so difficult to play.

Sungha Jung! kid is a champ; i tried learning some of the songs he transcribed - easier to make money online then doing what he does.

+rep to him

I've only watched the first video so far but that is fucking unreal. He's not just playing one of the guitar parts. He's combing elements of both guitar parts with the bass guitar line as well as the melody sung by the lead singer. Pretty damn cool.

I used to try to do that on the bass. I would play the bass line but intermittently block the strings and play dead notes to mimmick the drum beat, while adding in chords from the rhythm guitar parts and elements of the melody wherever I could. Of course you can't play everything from every part, but if you play whatever part is most dominant at any one time then people think you're playing all the parts simultaneously.

One man band y'all

Well, damn it.

this is why you should teach your children to play some kind of instrument early. I think most kids could do this if they started early. Its easier to learn stuff when your younger when your brain is developing.

So if you have a kid right now, Start teaching them affiliate marketing so when they hit 12 you can retire and live off them.

Learning songs isn't difficult, it just requires practice like everything else. I've only been playing for about 2 years but I can play some extremely complex shit because I'll sit there for 6 hours practicing the same solo over and over again. The problem is I can't create any original music, I'm just not musically talented. I'm happy with covering songs...

It's too bad the world doesn't care about guitar players anymore, these kids are doomed to becoming music teachers in reality. When I was a kid, roughly 15 years ago there was an Australian guitar prodigy child who was all over the TV named Nathan Cavaleri... he played with BB King, Robben Ford and other huge names then faded into obscurity. Last band he was in was called 'Dirty Skanks' and the last time I saw him was on the community TV channel.

The only really excellent guitar player that has had any fame lately has been Orianthi, a 24 year old Australian girl whom was meant to be the guitarist on Michael Jackson's tour but unfortunately he died before it started. She rose to fame here in Australia with this pop song...

Man she can FUCKING ROCK THE GUITAR, very Santana influenced.

Obviously she only got famous because she's a marketable blonde chick... if it was a guy he'd be "blowing lassy in a ditch" to quote someone in the youtube comments.

Agreed. The kid is Asian, so it's pretty obvious he practiced a lot. I've been playing guitar since I was about 3 (prodigy) and I still find it hard to perform some songs unless I practice them a bit.

Anyways, why is it hard for you to make your own music? All you need is some time, a few scale progressions that "follow" each other, and a decent backing track creating software and you're good to go. I've already written a few dozen songs throughout my entire life and I'm not even done with college yet.

I can imagine the complex shit you play (I already know you know some killer Megadeth solos right?). My friend has only been playing guitar for 2 years as well, and plays almost as well as Steve Vai because he practices sometimes up until 4 AM. Hit me up sometime if you need any help with developing your own song.
