Hey guys, brand new to WF but love it so far. I just started a carpet cleaning company, I am trying to get some traffic to the website. I registered with the ten major business listings, made a facebook page etc.

I read that because its a local business only local back links will help, is that true? Also, any suggestions on reading material to help me learn?

Thanks...

If you have a location then sign up with google places.
Post your as on CL

Go after cityname carpet cleaning and other relevant local keywords

make sure that you include other carpet cleaning related keywords when you're doing seo too, such as steam carpet cleaning, carpet stain removal etc depending on what services you provide.

When you're creating your google places listing, make sure you fill out as many fields as possible.

carpet cleaning is a tough niche for all competencies when it comes to Google Places (if thats the route you choose)...hopefully you are not in a big city. If you are, expect 3 months until you get clicks...atleast for competitive kws.

I have 3 older....but still relatively current WSOs I can hook you up with that will steer you in the right direction. PM me with your contact details : )

Random tip - get involved in cleaning houses where homicide and other crazy shit takes place. I've heard it's a lucrative niche in the carpet cleaning industry.

Craigslist is a great way to connect with people locally, as are Yahoo!, Yelp, and other service review sites.

If your business is cleaning carpets, clean carpets, don't try and learn SEO. There are dozens of guys on this site that can do that work for you affordably. Focus on YOUR business. In my opinion for fast cheap NOW business mailbox fliers still work like a dream. Make the flyer personal with a picture of you and your truck.

Make another post looking for someone to do your local SEO work for you. Local is fall down easy for someone who has a clue.

You have a lot of homework to do if you want to grasp the concept of SEO, then you have a lot of time to put in finding content writers, link building packages (both for organic and local) and finally more time to understand how to measure your progress & improve.

The best advice I can give you is PM BlueSteele (Adam) and see if he'll consult with you. At the least you can buy some local citation packages that you'll need no matter what. The amount of time it'll take you to learn & do yourself is better spent on business development. Pay experts who know their shit so you can focus on what's important.

If I were you I'd spend my time on Social Media & Email List Building. Build yourself a nice mailing list of people in your geographic and demographic overlap. Once you build a large enough email list & social following - you'll get consistent long-term business from these relationships.

Citations or places where your business name, address, and phone number (NAP) are listed will help your Google Places page move up the most. Getting reviews of your business on your business listings helps a lot too.

How is the 7 step restorative process different to Steam Cleaning?

The major advantage of steam cleaning over dry cleaning is that you get a deeper clean that removes more of the deep down dirt and grit that wears away at your carpet fibers.
The two main disadvantages or steam cleaning are
1. Over wetting of the carpet:-
Without vacuuming first, much of the deep down dry dust particles in your carpet get wet and soggy when flushed with the cleaning solution. A lot of water and detergent is then needed to clean the carpet, especially in high traffic or heavily soiled areas. Often the backing and underlay can get wet, which is not good for your carpet. Over wet carpet can cause the carpet to wrinkle or shrink as well as cause odors. Not to mention the inconvenience of having wet carpet for days on end.
2. Residual Detergent:-
With steam cleaning the carpet is flushed with a solution of water and detergent during the cleaning process and some of this solution remains in the carpet after cleaning. When the carpet does eventually dry the water evaporates but the cleaning solution remains behind. This left over detergent can make your carpets fibers sticky or tacky, and will immediately attract dirt particles. This is the number one reason for carpets re-soiling quickly after cleaning.
The 7 step restorative process removes excess dry dust fist (step 1), pre conditions your carpet (step 2) and then has separate washing and rinsing stages (steps 3 & 4) which gives you a deep down clean without wetting the carpet backing or underlay, or leaving behind residual detergent.Carpet Steam cleaning

definitely try and work to get your name on company review sites, and get some positive feedback from customers. When I go looking for a place on Google, I check the reviews first and make sure things sound right. I would suggest this !!!!

Apollo, I think you need to check out ILOVEMARKETING.com one of the guys that runs the podcast is Joe Polish, He went from broke and having his own carpet cleaning business to running a lucrative and successful one, his podcasts are all free and provide very interesting and implementable information

Try to do some social media marketing through facebook and twitter because it will help you to reach to targeted people related to carpet cleaning. Also do some link building for SEO purpose to promote your business.
