Up To 45K To Spend On Car: What to Get?

How about the Gucci Fiat?

:-P

Jaguar is junk be prepared for expensive repairs often. The c63 is sick. I'm ordering the 2012 in January with the development package. That puts it around 500chp which is good for low 12's. M3 is the only competition in that price range but its much slower.

I know you don't want either of those so go for something that will be reliable like the NSX. Not super fast stock but add a comptech supercharger and you're good to go.

The 911 is nice but expensive to replace the turbos when they go and they will. Any turbo car will be more expensive to maintain.

If you're looking for 'different' but still want that Ferrari look, why not go for a Pantera?

It would cost you half of your budget, which would leave you with the other half to get it fixed up and customized to your liking.

Whatever you do, don't get an automatic. Any guy that drives an automatic is a fool. Unless it is a stupid truck.

Get a 1998 Supra TT. Looks like a supercar - actually it is classified as a supercar. Spend $30k on it and you have a ridiculous car in Mint shape. Too bad you don't like Audis...I have an S4 v8 and it is ridiculous.

after reading all these threads i'm realizing a lot of you are amateurs when it comes to cars...

ppl telling him to get a Pontiac G8 or an STI, wtf are you smoking? Pontiac isn't even in business anymore lol

This guys wants a luxury car, a car people gawk and "ooh and awe" over. He doesn't want some ricer STI that he has to install bigger turbos on to get INSANE WHP!!! He want's class, performance, and appearance.

OP, you have 45k ... I look at cars online all the time so i know the market, and i realize the type of image a car represents. Also, i'm like you, looking for something classy, fast, and sexy. Not a car that i see on the road every day, unless i'm in Beverly Hills or something.

Here are my suggestions in this order & my logic:

2001 Porsche 911 Turbo - Sexy as fuck, and a true contender in the sports car world - doesn't get much better unless your going for a lambo or ferrari

2008 BMW M3 - The "ultimate" ultimate driving machine. Take the performance of the 911 and mix it together with the practicality of a BMW and you get the M3. Hot looking car, lightest V8 engine ever, push one button and get 100 extra HPs. Great daily driver

2008 BMW M5
- V10! Gangster, 4 door if your into that type of thing. Subtle, but a head turner for anyone that knows anything about cars.

2007 Jaguar XKR - The only reason I don't have this higher is because I think the 2010/11's look way more aggressive than the 07's. This year is still nice, but look at a 2011 if you want your jaw to hit the ground.

2009 Mercedes C63 AMG - V8 Beast. Aggresive, practical, it's a C Class on steroids. For some reason I see a lot of Asians with these cars, so if your Asian it might be a good fit

2006 BMW M6 - Fast. sexy. M. BMW. They're kind of played out IMO. I see a lot of them so that's a turn off for me.

!!!!!!Money Saver BONUS!!!!!!

2008 BMW 335i - Twin Turbo i6 - one of the best engines BMW has ever built. Better gas mileage, V8 performance, no turbo lag, 300hp @ 7psi (standard boost), luxury, & performance, save $10,000. If you were worried about performance, get a Dinan chip, re flash your ECU (no work) and get 400+ HP will all stock parts and smoke the M3. One of my personal favs.

P.S. This is why i want to own a luxury used car lot

I think you are confusing the M3 w/ M5 here. The M5 has the famous "M" button that takes the car from 400 to a little over 500 HP.

Also, I have a 335i and love it. Great car. Gets tons of looks. I also bought a tuner for $450 that basically puts the car at almost 400HP / 400TQ and runs 12.5s at the track.

Wow, can't believe I'd never seen an XKR before. They look really cool, but I wonder what kind of reviews they get.

335xi is what I'm picking up in a couple of months. I need AWD.

a lot of people still drive/buy a used Hummer, but they aren't in business anymore - there are a lot of classics that aren't in business as well, so who cares. is it a good car? yes/no, if yes, consider buying. if anything that makes you sound like a total amateur for not considering a car just because the brand name isn't around anymore (even though the parent company is, and will honor all warranties and still makes replacement parts)

I know it doesn't matter. I just said that to emphasize not to buy a g8.

Im biased against american cars. The only american cars id own are an escalade, corvette, or ford GT, or any of the muscle cars.

They are overpriced, underdesigned, and quickly depreciating assets imo

lol and BMW and Mercedes have way worse repair rates than either Ford or GM brands, but keep the blinders on

push one button and get 100 extra HPs

The "M" button doesn't give you more horse power it adjust throttle response, suspension if the vehicle has EDC, steering wheel heaviness and DSC/MDM adjustments.

The "Power" button only adjusts the throttle response making the car "feel" like it has more power. For example if you have the throttle pressed down 50% it's more like 75% with either button engaged.

There are no blinders. That's the exact reason I drive a Honda right now instead of an m3. I think anyone thinking of going into german luxury should be aware of maintenece costs.

Unless your.buying a new BMW and get everything covered for 3 years
