I'm paying $70+ per month on my home phone bill. This seems stupid to me. The cell number is cheaper.

Any of you using VOIP that have an opinion of it?

It just seems stupid to me that in the age of cheaper and better, my phone service is still raping me...

vonage works great for me. i love getting emails of voicemails and using callforwarding. make sure you use an affiliate link and get $100!

I use Vonage at home... But... for some reason it's dragging a LOT of my bandwidth when I'm on a call. If I want to use the computer during my phone call, I use my cell..

Honestly, I pay over $100 a month for all my bells and whistles on my cell. Damned Verizon with "options" and "upgrades".

I use vonage as well. Haven't had any problems thus far... and check voicemail through e-mail is tight.

I got packet 8. Works good. I talk to your mom for hours and she doesn't complain about quality.

Pussy!!

I got raped way harded than you, and my bill didn't even include lube!

$1500+ a month for almost 3 months with Nextel after telling me I could call anyone, anytime with my "unlimited minutes", well, apparently that only means "unlimited minutes anytime... just so long as it's another nextel phone". Gotta love the fine print!

Get Skype.

I assume you have internet access at home.

You can even get a US skype no. for most cities, so people can call you.

It's like $30/year for unlimited calling.

Just to warn EVERYONE. Unlimited NEVER means unlimited. If you buy an "unlimited" plan. Make sure you record first and last name and write down when it took place. Also a voice recording of the person saying it after you asked it making sure when they say it there are no strings attached. Even when that happens. Its still going to be a bitch. Most of the time instead of charging you they will just CANCELL your service and say there ToS says they can because you use too many minutes. I think its funny how people think they talk on the phone much and get a $300 phone bill. I'm part of the nextel over $1000 club myself.

or maybe it was just a feature that was "coming soon" and you really shouldn't have looked forward to it only to have it crush your spirit

go to BBB and file a complaint against nextel. its the ONLY way you will even come close to getting the contract fixed or your money taken off of your bill/

nextel is the worste cell company on the planet, they fuck EVERYONE over .

Well, I had Nextel for 6 years before and never had an issue with them. It's when I moved over to the unlimited plan instead of the $300/mo plan is when they super fucked me. Funny too, because I told them flat out "I need to be able to call all over the US and Canada during the day, and to land lines mostly too, am I still covered?" -- Their answer "yes, the unlimited plan means you pay $150/mo and all of those calls are covered". When I switched over to Cingular (most dropped calls in the nation, never had a dropped call with Nextel) I got the 6000 mins plan with rollover mins, and I couldn't be happier. I have almost 10,000 rollover mins, and I'm still only paying around $225'ish a month (I have a lot of add-ons). So as soon as that iPhone comes out, I'm going to stick with Cingular/AT&T and swap my Treo 680 for the iPhone.

You've never seen the commercials? It's stated pretty obviously :P

I do use Verizon only. No need for a home phone. Just use the cell for business and friends. There are a lot of bells and whistles; however I like that I'm able to text and send email from the cell phone. Totally worth $105 a month for me w/ no home phone!

Tmobile for me. Always GREAT service, and their customer service is actually professional and they care..

When you call with a complaint you dont get Shaniquah on the other end of the line saying "sir, its not my fault you dont pay yo bill"

I have had T-Mobile for a little over 5 years now and I would be absolutely fine with them if I didn't have to roam on Cingular (for free) where I live all the time. Cingular doesn't appear to be bad, but getting the T-Mobile data services through them looks to be a real bitch so it's not worth it to get the PDA phone that I want. I'll probably end up switching to Cingular after my contract is up (if I even remember).

I currently pay about $50 a month for 1,500 anytime minutes and unlimited nights and weekends nationwide. I use around 200 minutes a month, if that.

My question is, who the hell do you guys talk to so much? I cannot STAND to talk on the phone for more than three minutes.
