I voted real term - whom ever manages to get within the top 3 spots can gain the extra income as I would guess competition would be hard (as in people at WF trying to get top spot).

Should be fun too.. although people already running "seo" services do have an advantage as they will no doubt just get work done on their site from their packages/services.

I'm interested, why don't we make it the most competitive 2012 apocalypse term possible?

It has to be a bullshit term otherwise its pretty much guaranteed that someone will already have an advantage. Member names already rank pretty well for a wide variety of of things so that could be a little sketch.

Anyone think it would be more interesting if it were longer than 30 days? Any monkey can blast away at a site and move up in rankings for a couple weeks hell google does it for you. But it takes some talent to keep it there for 3 months or even a year. The rest of 2012 would be much more interesting

As long as we picked something outside of the top 25 niches that everybody on WF is balls deep in, it shouldn't be a problem.

Have to be a real term then, with serious money making potential.

or we could do something useful like oh say "Ron Paul for President"

Or some worthwhile charities for some charity terms. I like your line of thought here.

Real term all the way. It'd be nice not to waste time trying to outSEO others only to end up with a useless entity after the contest ends.

Real Term, definitely the greatest incentive everyone has to enter the competition is knowing they can rank for a term or niche that is profitable.

The problem is it would probably be more like top 200 niches, there are some pretty diverse networks represented here on WF.

The more I think about it I would have to agree

Then at the end of the contest we could all redirect it to the main charity's
site or donate the sites to the charity

I also think the winner should fully disclose the methods/links used to the prize sponsors, call it a private case study if you will, to further their ROI on investing in the contest.

ETA: Short of outing the actual URLs on our private networks.
