Creating a start page

I own a forum/store.

I would like to create a start page/enter page,
with a logo and hyperlinks to both the forum and
store.

I dont know shit about coding.
is this difficult to do on my own? or better off
getting someone to do it?

I have never done this before but I would probably use the .htaccess to define which page you want as your index and have it load that.

I've developed a forum site before, but I would agree with the above option. Don't know that you could just "move" forum files to a sub directory.
