Yeah it pretty much blows my mind how hard the commish came down. Just wow.

They deserved it. Goodell had to come down hard, especially considering the new era of touch football he's been ushering in over the past couple of years. I honestly thought they would lose a little more; I'm surprised they were allowed to keep their first round pick.
 
This is a total crock of shit. These guys were not playing dirty or giving out cheap shots. They played as a team and won a ring because of this. How is this wrong if your playing within the rules? Who ever the little bitch was that snitched is sure to be dealt with in an appropriate manner.
 
Its well deserved. It was outrageous they were placing bountys on knocking players out of the game. Offering cash to injure another player? Some of you guys don't think that is completely out of line?

The fact that some of the other coaches knew about it and didn't immediately eliminate it makes things even worse. Williams should never again be allowed to be a coach in the NFL.
 
This is all an effort to protect the NFL from that train barreling down the tracks getting ready to blow the league apart - class action lawsuits from former players and family of dead players due to head injuries. Punishments like this will be used in future lawsuits to demonstrate that the league is doing everything they can to ensure player safety.
 
why does it surprise you? The saints got hit hard as they should have. Ever since Goodell came into the league he has been bringing harsh punishments. The NFL is so popular now he wants to make it into a most safe as possible sport so others can look up to. I think they should have taken their 1st rounder next year instead of a 2nd, but oh well.

watch 09/10 playoffs, especially against the vikings. But they definitely tried playing as a team against the seahawks/Lynch last year ;p
 
I expected this kind of punishment. And like the other poster said, I expected them to lose a 1st round draft pick over this, if not two of them. They're lucky they got to keep those.
 
I agree with the picks, not suspension. Damn goodell is a damn dictator.

Goodell only wants player safety because they want a longer schedule.
All about $. One day you will see what i'm saying.

He will keep throwing down the hammer(fines and suspensions in the name of safety) and will keep up the rule changes(in the name of safety) until the owners get their way. Avg nfl fan does not have a high enough iq to see the rug getting pulled from their feet.

Paying people to hurt other players is tantamount to hiring goons to beat up someone who owes you money. It has no place in modern society, let alone within a major sports league of any kind.

Despicable actions, and justified punishment.

I wonder how Drew Brees Would feel about it if someone got paid a bonus to take him out for the season.

I'm implying that they are doing it for the only purpose of $$$ don't get things twisted. They will keep this up until the QB is wearing a flag belt.
 
and what's wrong with a little violence? isn't that half the fun of watching NFL as opposed to baseball?
