Lump sum or annuity?

If I win the Mega Millions, you'll know because:

- BlokBlok's girlfriend will have new fake boobs
- I will go to Uganda and buy a child from Kony's army as a slave
- I will buy 1,000 Spam Gone Wild packages to rank variations of Googlehammer.com on the first 10 pages on Google for the term "Matt Cutts"
I assume you will quit working in the fields picking vegetables? Also, will you stop mass-breeding?

lump sum if invested correctly would beat the annuity in lifetime value, especially including inflation.

Only idiots buy lottery tickets. If someone acquires the knowledge on how to invest, he will stop buying lottery tickets.

How is it idiotic to spend $1 to win half a billion? The only time i buy a ticket is if it goes over $300 mil and spend $1 which happens about once every year or so. Will I win? Probably not but that $1 a year doesn't affect my life at all if I keep it. If I win anything even the $2 prize I am ahead and with the off chance of a life changing event.

Now 99% of people dont have that discipline to buy 1 or 2 tickets a year and they piss away their Social Security checks on these things and I completely agree are idiotic.

I play the lottery strictly for entertainment and I play online on a subscription basis so I don't have to buy my tickets, check my winning numbers (they'll call me to tell me I'm fucking awesome and have won) and the cash goes straight to my "prize account" or if it's over $600 gets mailed to me. It's fun and I honestly don't expect to win, which I think increases my odds of winning.

Only an idiot buys a ton of lottery tickets expecting to win. There is nothing wrong with playing the lottery for fun.

What is your ROI on those tickets?

I have nothing against people playing for fun, but if you play with the thought of making money from it, treat it like every other business and you will see why it is retarded.

Throwing a dollar away also probably won't affect your life much, but that does not make it a good thing.

Only an idiot would take annuity.

Typical Trailer Trash, non family or legacy building answer.

Why give away free money?

with annuity you are in a better position to not ever go broke.

and basically a big chunk of what I'm working for is to pass down for my family's future , whether it be my online monies, investments or lucky lottery winnings (that I don't play anyway)

Keep in mind you can't bring your winnings to the grave.

I get it, you want everything NOW.

Annuity is only 20-25 years, even if you don't want to build a strong family, why would you give away HALF your earnings unless you were an Old, Lonely 60 year old?

I can agree with this logic, otherwise Id take annuity.

But to get Big toys now, F that. I have enough confidence in my abilities where I don't have to depend on the lottery for any toys in life.

The FED is going to increases the money supply to pay our out of control debt.

Your money will lose most its value through inflation before it even gets to you. Take the lump sum, invest it properly.

and I know this.. I'm speaking on hypothetical terms of course. Most lottery winners want everything NOW, so they can SPEND now.

Most in this forum would probably be an exception to the norm (including you Russ86)

but... I think I read somewhere that 1 in 3 Lottery winners are broke within 5 years.

I look on my facebook and read all these people saying they are buying over $100 worth of lottery tickets. SMH.

If any of you win and you get interviewed by a news station, you have to tell them your building a business called googlehammer.com. Epic dickroll.
