Working with a brand new EMD

I've been building up a 1600 monthly search ecommerce EMD with a good amount of posts (I believe 11) and backlinking for the past week. Yesterday I checked my ranking for the first time and I was actually quite depressed that I didn't even appear in the top 100 for the primary keyword. For any of the keywords actually.


The site's actually 8 days old. When I do a "site: " search on Google it does not appear. I was curious, what you guys have experienced with this? Is it in a "holding" period with Google? I heard something about Google doing a certain kind of "scour the internet" update once a week, and figured my site just needs to be updated in the eyes of Google. Could I get recommendations on how to get it out of that period as fast as possible?

It's only been 8 days...

You must have shit links cause 1 good link will get you crawled and index the same day. Still you shouldn't expect to rank in 8 days. There is no scour the internet update.

What does Webmaster Tools say? If you build no links and just submit a sitemap you'll get indexed in a week so perhaps something is wrong with the domain (previous owner got it deindexed).

Usually google indexes main page in few days. Sometimes it's not happened.
Make sure that you have unique content. And send some 'social signals' (tweets, retweets, g+ votes, facebook likes, reddit posts, pinterest posts etc.).
