Going on my second world travel trip for the next 36 weeks. Last time I had a shitty netbook. Considering the Macbook Air but was wondering is there anything better preferably with Windows.

Probably not what you want to hear but I think the best thing for travelling is a netbook. Just get the best 10.1" model you can and stick a pixel 3qi screen in it which goes like a kindle in direct sunlight so you can use it on the beach. Whatever you get make sure you swap out the standard hard drive for a solid state drive because standard hd + luggage handlers = lost data.

Macbook Air, but if you want PC my friend has a Sony Vaio Z, it's ultra thin and light + they have a battery sheet ( $150 ) that adds another 5-6 hours. They say up to 15, but my friend said it was more around 10-12 for him. which is a pretty good day without having to plug it in. Expensive as fuck tho, all in all like $2500 for laptop + battery.

This^^^ i got a sony Z and i love it... Macbookr Air is cool though

I have travelled with macbook air, also use it as my main computer, it's plenty powerful, get an 8gb ram upgrade though.

I used to travel a lot, every month by air, and an important consideration is the bag you carry your laptop in.

I had this incredible bag which I dropped twice in airports but due to the mega bouncy spongy bag my Dell survived.

Regardless of what app / remote access is running, an iPad is not a good interface for most work, which needs a decent res and an actual keyboard (and probably mouse) IMO.

i bought a thinkpad x230 with ips screen, size is just right for traveling, built like a tank, affordable, customizable, loving it.

I'll tell you what my next laptop will be for this use: PORTÉGÉ® Z930. I have a 2 year old Portege and it's been the best laptop I've ever had.

I use a Lenovo Thinkpad Edge which comes in several sizes. Mine is the bigger, but there's a smaller version which is better if for some reason you can't wear a bag over the shoulder.

I like Lenovo (former IBM), their Thinkpad series is pretty much synonomus with business laptops.
