Picked Up a Mechanical Keyboard "Das Keyboard"

I know there has been a few mechanical keyboard threads recently, but holy shit! It is seriously what black people would call "the money".

I purchased one of these Das Keyboard Model S Professional Mechanical Keyboard With Media Controls - Click Pressure Point with the "Cherry MX Blue" switches, which is the "Clicky" one. It sounds and feels so satisfying, like a fucking headshot every key click. I bought it through Newegg and they initially sent me the wrong one, the "Soft' keys. It was nice and a big improvement, but I had them correct the order and finally received the "clicky", which is a different planet. Hands down more productivity and a pleasant work experience.

I know most of you are spending 8+ hours a day on your computer, so if you are not using one then look into it. Here's a video (not me) of what it sounds like:

Bought one and it drove me fucking nuts, way too loud on the clicks. The feel was sweet, but the board is over priced for what it is imo, though they are great marketers.

Yeah, I saw the thread. Yours didn't have a numpad. I don't particularly use mine much, but is there any signification reason why it doesn't?

I can certainly see it being frustrating if you don't like the sound and it is a little steep for a keyboard, but for how much I use it, it was a no brainer.

There is another big factor, and I don't know if it was just my old board lacking, but this one has sharper key edges which helps me distinguish the keys a bit more improving accuracy and higher WPM.
 
also, for people who don't like the sound, you can get keyboards with Cherry MX Brown switches which feel the same but don't have the tactile click sound on keypress.

Cherry red and black are silent and smooth if you prefer neither clicky nor tactile. Some prefer them for gaming. I have the cherry reds in the QPAD MK-85. Here's a set of excellent diagrams showing the differences between the 4 different kinds of switches...

I use a since 15 years a Cherry MX, today G80-3000xx.
3 years ago, my first Cherry was used up - and i typed daily around 8 hours.

The new Cherry MX comes from Czech Republic.

Still very good, but not as good as the original. You can "wrench" the keyboard a bit,
the plastic of the case is not as high quality as the it was.

But the click keys are still ancient. You need a bit to in it, but then you can write faster as with a normal keyboard.
 
As usual, Apple make the best quality low-profile silent keyboards out of aluminium. Sick to death of plastic bullshit. I use one with my Windows PC.
