Or - why XP is worse than 7?

I want to reinstall my system soon and am going to keep XP again. The only thing I see is better in 7 - is breadcrumbs in the Explorer and also it gives you create a new folder easily. I can't see any other advantage, only downsides - 4eg TurboLaunch doesnt work in 7.

Any strong arguments against XP?

(proper) Multi-display support (i.e. with h/w acccel).

Memory management.

Memory limit (4GB for XP (32bit), 192GB for Win7 Pro). I couldnt live with a 4GB memory limit.

Driver support, many new devices = no XP support.

Software support, MS dropped XP ages ago

Security patches, MS will be dropping XP next year iirc.

p.s. I stuck with XP for as long as possible, totally skipped vista. Tried Win7 beta as soon as I could and it was a no brainer.

Win7 is very good.

WinXP is also the prime target for viruses / malware of all sorts.
About time to drop it.

Another thing; web fonts don't render properly in XP.

Win7 is way, way more polished than XP. Let go of your fear of change, install Win7 and force yourself to get used to it. Guaranteed you won't go back after you discover that you only clung to the old ways because it's what you were used to and not for any genuinely good reason.

No going back to windows XP now, Win 7 is all perfect, have had no problems with it even on my office staff machines. Also the updates for XP is going to end soon also.

For me it was a simple matter of driver support, as more stuff on Win7 is plug n play, and I would just generally have more issues with XP. Would have to reformat more often due to the overall system turning slow and I would have more frequent crashes compared to Win7, which doesn't really ever freeze for me.

what everyone else here has said, XP is no match for Win 7 right now. W/e version after 8 will be better then 7 more the likely as well because of the same issues.

I have my windows 7 setup to look exactly like XP. And act close to the same. Difference is, its stable. I'll go months without rebooting.

Windows 7 is excellent...i was hesitant to switch (and i hate windows 8) but 7 is great!

- The 32 bit 4gb RAM limit issue is huge so I just thought I would mention it again to hammer it home
- Support for IE past version 8, not that I expect you would use IE as your daily browser, but for testing purposes it's pretty important
- DirectX 11 support and beyond, which should be important to you if you're a gamer at all
- The interfaces in Win7/Win8 are so much nicer than XP, if aesthetics matter to you

W/e version after 8 will be better then 7 more the likely as well because of the same issues.

What issues? Other than differences in the start menu, Win8 is exactly the same as Win7, albeit a bit more refined and possibly a bit faster (it's hard to tell, my computer is a beast so the differences would probably be expressed in milliseconds). My day to day experience is exactly the same and just as stable and it's really a treat to work on. The contemporary interface is great IMO.

7 seems more secure to me.

Was always having security issues with XP, then I upgraded to 7 and have had very, very few problems. Memory isn't a issue even with 6gbs on my desktop.
