2013 NFL Free Agency

Looks like dchuk is starting to drink early today. What the fuck is going on in the league right now.
The ridiculously low salary cap of $120m might have something to do with it. I think it's the lowest cap of all major sports but im not completely sure.

yes! Get him out of the AFC East! Brady is supposedly furious over this, as he should be. He basically took chump change this year to free up some cap room.

Well, technically the NFL has the highest team caps of any sport, but basically the lowest per player caps because a team has 50+ guys on the roster at any time. For instance, NBA has a cap of about $60mn but that's for like what, 15 guys? Not sure what a full NBA roster looks like size-wise.

It definitely makes for more exciting movement of players as can be seen this week, but it's definitely whacky.

They had to act fast. Boldin refused a paycut and the Ravens needed more money to try and sign Reed, Ellerbe, or Kruger. They had to take the best available offer to try and sign their own guys, even though they still failed at that. I think the only other known offer was the Vikings offering a 7th rounder for Boldin.
lol not to mention the atroicous contract of joe flaaco.

Broncos getting welker is gonna be dirty.

Seahawks just signed Cliff Avril to a 2 year contract!

This is just getting disgusting now. This team will be a fucking terror this year.

Ehhh, losing Welker isn't going to kill the patriots. What kills them is if they can't keep Hernandez and Gronk on the field. They just signed Amendola, so they're relying on three guys who can't stay on the field. Obviously not the best situation, but keeping Wes wouldn't put them back in contention.

They're not going anywhere until they get A) a pass rusher and B) a corner. Without those two, they're just a good playoff team.

As a Lions fan, I regret to inform you that Avril is very overrated. He owes his stats due to playing next to Suh, so watch for a big drop off. He's a mediocre pass rusher, at best.

Last year, the Lions offered him $30MM for a 3 year deal so he can't be that bad as a pass rusher. Since he took a pay cut to come to Seattle, I still think we got a good deal at a position that we desparately needed to fill until Clemons is back healthy.

I did hear that Avril sucks against the run so hopefully some better coaching can fix that.

That's because VandenBosch is 87 years old and Avril was all we had. Losing both would be difficult to replace so they got desperate. Don't get me wrong, he's not bad and I'd rather have him than not have him, but he's just not as good as some people think. Watch some tape of him when Suh is out of the game and you'll see what I mean.

SF seems like the big winner so far. DEN definitely upgraded.

BAL seems like it's losing pieces because of that joke Flacco, which I am enjoying tremendously.

The Pats need to resign Aqib Talib and get another solid corner. Without Talib, they have no shot.
