Multi-million dollar niche that's flying under the radar?

Alright bros, I'll give it to ya straight because I know the WF team would out me in a second.

So, here's the breakdown:

My mother loves online sweepstaking.
The #1 site in this niche is running a business model that even 1995 would laugh at. Yet, he's still going strong and making at least 7 figures a year off his site.

My ma decided she's tired of the community, wants better for her $$ and basically put out a hit and I can't disappoint, so I'm issuing it to all the WF brothers that I've come to love and hate.

This guy has been cruising along, under the radar in this niche, and making a killing for YEARS. She and I both think it's time for a little competition for this guy (mainly because she wants a better site without the bullshit). I know there are many heavy hitters on here who can make it happen and make a huge amount of money in the process. Since I don't have the funds to capitalize on it myself, I offer it to my brothers here (yes, I'll take mod status as payment).

Google: Online sweepstakes.

The #1 guy, who is largely absent from his business (according to inside sources) is likely making an easy 7 figure profit from this site with 0 competition. ($30/year memberships, charging advertisers for sweeps listings, and on and on). I've discussed his biz model in-depth with active users and I'm AMAZED at what he has going on and what he's getting away with. However, he's done nothing to innovate or protect it and his members are getting pissed.

My ma would like a site that is based on today's technology and that didn't involved the corrupted crap that this guy lets go on, since his moderators/editors completely RUN THE SITE. This guy literally takes 6-12 months off at a time.

I offer this niche to you, humbly, my WF brothers. Take it over and do with it what you will. I look forward to updates. Enjoy the $$$ because this (apparently) untapped niche is huge.

Sweepstakes you say?

Next thing you'll be 'outing' hair loss? Diet pills? Online poker?

Thank you OP, no one ever thought of this or knew about it. Plus, we all love jail and processing is just so easy.

Also, you are right, Net rev = deposits - payouts. Nothing else.

What are you talking about? This guy is running an old business model that would be crushed by a newer, more innovative model. I'm simply presenting my idea here.

How does that = jail time?

The guy is making 7 figures off a custom vbulletin setup.

Edit: basically all I'm saying is his community (customers) are pissed at him and his site and want something better. I just don't have the funds to capitalize. But, I imagine many WF'ers do.

Good luck bros.

i like this idea a lot
seems readily scalable

Don't have to scale it, this guy and his crappy model are #1 in the niche, have been for years. Everyone flocks to him because there is no one else. The second he gets legitimate competition, a site that utilizes new technology to serve the sweeps and community, he's done.

Seriously, I've heard plenty from his moderators, editors, and long-term customers, that if I had a spare 20-30k for custom programming, I would create a site to bury his and steal every single one of his customers. I just don't have it. My ma wants a new, more innovative place to do her sweeps, WF ballers can create that - and they'll make a shitload.

This is just my gift to watch ballers create a better product for my ma since I don't have the funds to do it.

Good luck bros.

WOW!

I've never seen this.

When I googled: Online sweepstakes

Only 1 result.

Totally secret niche.

Thanks!

Well, while you are wasting your time being a dick to me, others are analyzing his site and business model and finding all the golden nuggets.

Amazing that I can find and present a completely lucrative niche for WF and the peasants want to burn me in the streets.

I've been planning to launch his competition for a couple years now, but never had the funds. Someone here does. And, if it makes it hella easier and more enjoyable for my ma to do what she likes, then they can have that 7 figure payday and I will thank them for it.

I think you totally missed the truly legit point in my sarcasm. ;)

Why not just do it yourself instead of yapping to all the jagmos here?

I'm peasant status and don't have the cash to create the type of system that would acquire all his customers. I'm posting it here because my ma and I were talking over drinks tonight and, after hearing her bitch about this guy and his community for over a year, decided I would give this opportunity away if it meant someone else could devise a better product for her (which should be easy).

Trust me, if I had the funds available, and what I know about this setup, the niche, and how the current leader(s) are doing business, I would crush this and never tell a soul.

Edit: The side note is that there are some really heavy hitters here that lurk in the shadows, not everyone is a jagmo ;)

Do you think he will let someone to take his customers away easily?

If I were in his position and would see someone coming for my bread & butter I would fight to the end.

If he's making good money on it he surely has resources to defend himself.

Let say the guy makes $500'000 a year on this business. You pump up $200'000 to create a product ready to take his customers. So you have -$200'000. Then he sees that customers like what you did. He analysis what you did and implements the same shit. But he already has money to make changes and still a huge amount of customers who I doubt would switch to something new within one day. He stops customers exodus for a while. With your new customers you are still not making enough to finish him. Bla bla bla...

What I mean is you have to consider many more factors before you are damn sure your competitor is weak or business worth jumping in. And if your idea is really good (I'm not judging here - I'm a peasant) then don't share it, make money for yourself (try to get money to implement it).

In my personal opinion, the guy has been abusing his business for years. The customers I've talked to from his site (not just my mother) wholeheartedly agree. They just keep going back because no one else is offering what he has. His entire setup is running off a custom vbulletin getup and has been since it's inception.

I'm just saying, given the resources and cash, I, personally, would look to crush him (maybe because I know a little more about the niche than most) and have an easy path to victory.

Considering how competitive most niches are and what marketers go through to get a buck, this guy is getting away with murder. Because, for some reason, no one has decided to build a legitimate site to compete with him. So, he's been able to sit at #1 for "online sweepstakes" for years with literally zero competition.

His customers (yes, one of whom is my mother - a loyal customer for 10 years and has her finger on the pulse of his community) are just sick of his site and the way it's run. A newer program (maybe one that integrates the sweeps with facebook login? hint hint) would clean the floor with his old ass 1995 vbulletin setup that he's been suckling for years.

Just saying, whoever wants to make some cash, there it is. This market is ripe for first movers into 2013.

I agree with OP.

Groupon is another site that people are tired of and has pissed off merchants etc., so in the spirit of giving I would like to offer the Daily Deal business model to my Wickedfire brethren. In fact, you can even find daily deal scripts to run the site and people would flock to you in a minute because people hate Groupon.

You're welcome everyone.

You're sarcasm is completely missing the point of all my posts.

I know several (read: more than one) people who have been moderators and/or editors for his business that are honestly tired of the 1995 crap of his business. His customers are screaming at the top of their lungs for innovation and a new mover in the market place. This guy, apparently has issues away from the keyboard, that keep him solely living off of past success and no one chooses to make a competing site in this market, even though his customers are SCREAMING for it.

Dismiss my ramblings all you want, but this is one niche I know. Albeit indirectly, but I know it nonetheless and people are ACHING for new tech to take it over.
