I'm using a Brita filter on my kitchen sink and the water still tastes like crap. This is especially true when I chill it and then it returns to room temperature.

WTF?

I don't want to buy bottled water but Brita filters suck or something cause even after filtering it, the stuff tastes like it came out of a garden hose. This didn't used to be the case but lately it seems like their filters don't work anymore.

Anyone else have this problem?
 


I gave up on those filters a long time ago. Buy bottled water, a pain I know, but make sure it's light and mineral.
 
Lead, mercury, flouride, radon, ect. Check age of your filters. If you really want good clean safe water check out the big berkey water filteration system ($200). They are pretty bad a$$.

Is it well water or municipal water?

If its a well, does the water smell too? Could be sulfur or something else from the ground getting in the water.

If its municipal, its perfectly normal. I got a tour of a water treatment plant when I was younger that I could have gone a lifetime without. Two words. Chocolate milk.
 
Pur better than Britta.

Reverse Osmosis System is better, then go get some Colloidal Minerals (Dead Sea Tea. Lulz) and you're all set.
 
What an annoying thread, OP asks question, leaves out details, doesn't answer questions.

Most bottled water is going to be RO

I mounted my system down the utility room and run piped it to my fridge(ice / cold water) and installed another spigot at my sink.
 
There are more regulations/standards/testing on tap water than bottled water.

With that said, I'm in the process of trying to get a good water testing kit for the tap water in my apartment.

DTA: Don't trust anybody.
