Maker Studios bought Blip.TV to compete with YouTube

another tid-bit.

VIne is rumored to be paying certain people $1,000 - $10,000 per video in a partner-share program, greater than anything YT has done

I'm still getting details. Will share later.

didnt this happen over a week ago?

yes vine is in fact doing this so are many others. youtube didn't have to when they started because they only streamed pirated content.

YouTube is spiralling downward at the moment.

Everyone's jumping ship b/c all the changes they made.

It's going to be an interesting close out of 2013 for Google Search and YouTube.

Would not be surprised if by the end of 2014 a new heavyweight for internet video & search were on the horizon. A major statement I know but we shall see.

and yes, these moves were announced a while ago but details are now emerging and I thought WF might want to know about how the 'video hustle' is working .

I had videos earn for 3 years that were 30 sec clips i looped over a few times. fast and slow motion.... it can be a good pick up.

Uhh, can you elaborate on this?

Sorry, guess I spoke without good pretext. I tend to think people are always in the know of things I am, a fault of my own many times. Excuse the err.

Partners and MCN's are evolving to pull away from YouTube because they began paying lower beginning of 2013 than anything seen before by many. An associate of DeStorm told me, he lost around 40% of his typical income (for example ).

If you read the Google / YouTube partner forum there are lots of posts about it

The remedy... these deals like Blip TV and rising rebellion of people who use to be some fo YT's biggest content creators, looking for other places to transfer fans.

Youtube tried to pull this 2 years ago but it didn't work as partner stuck together and made a little power circle........... people like Shane Dawson and Niga Higa were rumored involved... and were going to try and pull their brands off the site OR do something that would heavily shake YouTube's viewership. All was quailed.. or so people thought.

my analyzation of what really happened:
Quietly, YT made plans for this and basically stripped partners of the ability to become such a powerhouse brand by taking away channel customizations and other marketing abilities that let users be the main draw of power. Now , you goto a channel, you have user's attention immediately split between multiple people with a 10 second glance over. This waters down power by keeping subscribers on various YouTube channels... which benefits some of the lesser and of course the major labels & channels secretly paying for placement.

I could rant on this in more detail but you get the picture and the common sense conspiracy I theorize.

Even if this is true, that 40% loss I would venture to guess would still leave him with more than he would get anywhere else.

WTF?? This has got to be the most ridiculous sentence I've read in a long time. Who do you think you are you condescending faggot?

are you fucking high? It wouldn't matter if youtube lost all their top "partners". Their will be 1000 replacements within 24 hours. Everyone on the p lanet knows and uses "google" and "youtube". Many of the mobile devices (smart phones) default to these giants. Hundreds of millions (maybe billions)of people wouldn't even know how to use the internet if it wasn't for google. Most people wouldn't even begin to know where to look for a video if it wasn't for youtube. 15 second videos are hardly going to be a problem for them.

Definitely looks like a downward trend bro

Isn't that a good thing for users who want to discover new content, keeping them on the site longer? It will allow both popular and unknowns get more viewers while the chance to turn them into subscribers remains the same.

If you were worried about getting what you think your video is worth rather than the company that owns the platform then it wouldn't be on a third-party site anyway, would it?

Vine is already paying him nicely. If he's making 4 figures per video, Vine would be worth more by comparison of production costs and efforts.

That's excluding his videos with guerilla ad placements on YouTUbe. which are an offer directly from the MCN usually.

For YouTube yes. That's what I said earlier, it *could* help the 'lesser' or a few smaller upcoming YouTubers get known. ... chances are probably about the same as hitting the lottery..... Big brands are buying those positions, watch who generally shows up when you visit. Getting a like on your video content from a major YouTuber or even a dislike is way more effective.

For the partner people who owns the channel, you definitely do not gain as much as before. Keep in mind I have about 8 channels. The difference is clear for me in comparison to last 3 or 4 years.

Good and Bad to everything but they were targeting something with their multiple updates in last 2 years.

^ weren't you the guy who doubted me last time? at least you're good at being wrong....and also at pulling things out of context to make a point ..... good job though at that.... ( http://www.wickedfire.com/2085469-post78.html )

YouTube's been botted by billions and billions of views . The real traffic is not known but none the less, I'm not talking about views.

You can't be serious? LOL DO you not understand what a 'fan' is ?

You think if RayWilliamJohson left YouTube.... if NigaHiga... if Jenna Marbles... left.... they would have a replacement within 24 hours? not even responding further. Your understanding of what entertainment does to people is piss poor.

Have fun reading all my posts for a flaw though. ;) Just wonder if any your family's bloodlines were on the hunt for witches and vampires ages ago... the link seems strong...

Im not saying you can replace Jenna or who ever the fuck Ray William Johnson is. Believe it or not most people dont use YT to see these "YT celebrities". If Jenna died tomorrow (or stopped posting) do you think those millions of users are going to stop watching YT? Nope not one bit. Jenna and RWJ are just stops along the way. The fact is the vast majority of YT users have never even seen a Jenna or RWJ video. When fox cancelled House did people stop watching TV? Nope they found something else to fill that time.

lol what are you talking about? I love a good witch hunt, but your ignorance hardly warrants one. It's even more amusing that you think a disagreement would. Witch hunts and lynching are reserved for scammers and criminals.

you're not drowning, no need to reach............

Just to slow down for you, a second.... if people with millions of fans migrate... it can do damage is the movement is done with strategy. It's instant traction.

Big difference between that and dying.

but either way that's like saying Justin Bieber is worth the same as Michael Jackson ........fans do not just shift ...
