I have started researching and writing some articles for my new site. Just wondering how unique they must be. I checked the first 2 and they are both 95% unique. Is this ok or do they need to be 100% ?

I think the proper question you should ask yourself is: "is it good enough to create/increase user engagement or get the customer's to purchase?" Write for the users, not the robots. Robots don't buy, users do.

That

Write write write and don't care about uniqueness. It doesn't matter if you have 30%, 50%, 70%, 100% unique as long as you wrote the article yourself and its giving value to your readers.

Uniqueness only matters on spinners, is that what your upto??

There are two ways to create unlimited FREE content:

1. Have users create it
2. Scrape it and help people make sense of it

The uniqueness of the content doesn't matters. Just correct it manually to make it readable.. easy

Unfortunately the man with the true answer is on vacation MATT CUTTS. I have seen curated stolen content outrank the original.

So 95% is very high but you're going about it the wrong way. Concentrate on easy to rank keywords and readers engagement to get moving in the right direction.

You need to have a smart way of researching topics without blatant copying and pasting.

-unfortunately you're banned cause of bumping a year old threads like this
since its already bumped here's my experience with this

currently i have 3 sites, nurturing with content. I have 70-80-90% content and it doesnt matter. what really matter in the long run is your clients.

scenario 1
- you have 100% king content but dont have the traffic or the content is not digestive to your readers = fail

scenario 2
- even if you have 50% unique content as long as your traffic(clients) reads them and gives value to your site your good end of story
