Hi yamunacbs,

To do affiliate marketing you need a product, go to clickbank or commission junction and pick one.

A lot of folks get a blog and do a review of the product, post some articles, do SEO, generate traffic to their blog and from their blog they send leads to their affiliate link.

You can be an amazon affiliate, an eBay affiliate, if you don't want to setup a blog you can always do article submissions or have a fan page on Facebook which i used to do and it worked fine.

There's plenty of ways to go about it, if that's what you really want to do then stick to it, consistency is very important.

Affiliate marketing comes in many forms than most people care to mention. There is clickbank product, physical product, cpa offer, services, anything can promoted as an affiliate. As beginners we are taught to do clickbank marketing that's because the ones telling you this more than likely are also telling you to promote their products as well.

For starters they say pick a niche, I say pick a market instead. There is a difference.
find related products or services that will fit well with the market you choose. Ebooks, physical goods or services.

Locate keywords that users are searching for. Try to find keywords that would signal someone is looking to buy what your offering.

Build an authority site around them. Some will tell you it is hard to get an authority site up and ranked but I it's just as hard with any site as long you did your research right you should be fine.

Setup an autoresponder of some kind and offer a newsletter or report related to your market.

Drive traffic like no tomarrow. I know those are not the exact steps but the basics. It would be wise to learn wordpress, niche research and seo for starters. Social Media is another field that will pay off big.

Its a technical thing. Need to start from the beginning like start your blog/website work on it. Then take approval from google of Adsense. Place relevant Ads in your website/blog, then the number of hits you get that much income you can earn as per decided.
 
Affiliate Marketing is a Huge Arena and just like in any new business you should always start with a business plan. The key is research - you need to figure out what is the best way for you to succeed based on facts. You need to get answers in the following areas

1. Your Niche
2. Your Target Audience
3. How will you reach your audience
4. What is the competition
5. What are their marketing tactics.

Once you have a complete understanding and a plan to follow then it makes it so much easier.
Educate your self on:

1. Types of Advertising
2. Sources of Traffic
3. Affiliate Networks
4. Types Landing Pages and Optimization
5. Types of Analytics and Reporting
6. Content Calendar

Once your armed with all of this then you are ready to start your blog and remember content is king. Do your best to become an authority in your niche and you will also start to build some SEO Juice.

I'm new to the internet and blogs so your advice is appreciated.

How long and detailed should the business plan for my blog be?

I have been told that I should have first year revenue projections, current asset holdings and liabilities included in the plan, what do you think?

This is very good information :)
 
it's just a product marketing to collect customers for a product.
when the customer purchase the product from your given links then you will get some renumeration from that purchase. just like a life-insurance agent or a sales-man
 
Laser target a small niche and be the big fish in the small pond... or piggyback the top competitors of a highly competitive niche, then take the Iron Throne.

Choose a few products (offers), better to find the successful ones. ))

And if you don't have your own traffic (website or blog), you may buy it using good reliable sources (networks for example), set up the appropriate targeting.

And you should track everything to be able to optimize your campaigns by each channel and ads.
