Am considering some Phillipino outsourcers to do some work. They're good, but they can only accept payment by epassporte or bank transfer. Any opinions on which is the better one? Anyone else deal w/ outsourcers from there?

anyone know of any good resources to teach filipinos internt marketing? I need something in their language. My girlfriend is filipina and trying to grasp what I do online.
also, she has a billion cousins, so if I could get her learning, then she can teach her fam, I'd have an army of my own outsourcers.

Not great for a first post - but I read in some of the outsourcing ebooks that this is actually the wrong approach. You should never give away the farm....

Don't work with your fam

Trust me, they'll all hate you after you fire them for sucking at life

I have outsourced Phillipinos and paid through paypal. They must have had an alternate person taking payments or something b/c for sure they are from the Phillipines.

Send it to me and I'll walk down the road and pay them, heh. There is a one time handling charge of all the money you send. I'm only here on business for a few more days this month (and next I suppose, technically), though, then it's back to Bangkok. Quality of work over here seems to vary from what I've seen, but if you get the right people it's top notch. Food's horrible, though. The menu at the place across the street actually has "Chicken Ass" in English on it which sounds like a standout bad item until you realize everything else is something stomach or something head or something feet.

Lots of filipinos doing online marketing/seo etc.
Western Union is the best option, it is pricey but there is a western union on every street corner. Xoom and paypal is also ok.

DO NOT WORK WITH FAMILY
I REPEAT DO NOT WORK WITH FAMILY
INCASE IT DID NOT SINK IN DO NOT WORK WITH FAMILY

The value system in filipines is totally different from america. In USA people are money oriented, while in PH they are family oriented. Even be wary of hiring people from the same family (who are not related to you). If you have to fire one, the rest of the family will turn against you. Even if you are paying the other family members like $1K a month (a huge sum in PH since cost of living a lot cheaper), and even if the reason for termination is 100% reasonable. The rest of the family members will quit/cause problems.

The logic in PH by western standards is often confusing. For example i wanted to open a US dollar account in a bank. But they only will open a US dollar account if you have actual US dollars (as in cash). So I asked if I can buy some US dollars. No I can not buy US dollars because I do not have a US dollar account. How do i get a US dollar account, well u have to have US dollars ....... This sort of circular reasoning exists all over PH (different value system). Try not to think too hard about it, or your head will explode.

Anyway just incase you where not paying attention.
DO NOT WORK WITH FAMILY.

It is kinda funny reading all the excoriations concerning working with family and friends in a thread about Asians, heh. Without family and friends, I doubt any actual business would get done on this continent. While nop is right that the mix between Western and Eastern (the stuff about logic) probably makes not working with family and friends across the divide a good idea in this case, it's not at all odd for Pinoys or any other Asians (though The Philippines reminds me much more of Latin America) to work with family and friends. It's the norm, really, which is part of why things remain so corrupt and everyone in power has the same name as people who were in power decades ago, heh.

All that being said, I don't work with family or friends, but that's pretty normal for we corncob Westerners. Yehey or something.

I have 2 workers in the Philippines and use Western Union. Works fine. I take the transaction fees from their end.

bangkok food is good.. are u a retard?!

@on-on
Concerning corruption PH is probably no more corrupt then USA. Probably less corrupt, how much $$$ is missing in iraq ?

Biggest problem is "cultural" and it is not even a language issue.
example:
Yes many times with pinoys actually means No (they do not like to say no since that is rude). So you ask a simple question like "Can you do _______ ?" Even if he can not he will say Yes, But somehow it really is a No (but only if you are filipino you will no this ???). This causes lots of confusion, Westerner is puzzled why pinoy is not doing _______, and filipino is puzzled why westerner wants him to do ________ when he should know he should know that his yes means no.

Try not to think too hard about this, just accept it the way it is, or you will go crazy and ur head will explode :)

the company I've used accepts wires and Western Union. if you want the guy's url and icq just IM me. Known the guy that ran it for about 4 years, US educated, but moved back to his home to start his outsourcing outfit. been doing it ever since, started out in doing mostly adult, but now he's moved to all mainstream.

pretty well known guy on GFY if you're ever on there.

Use a credit card, whatever you do, use a credit card. You can always dispute the charge if they screw you over. Xoom is alright, but they cash advance the card, they dont charge it, so you get fucked on cash advance fees. I suggest paypal, google checkout, or eLance.
