What should I do? PHP

I am a lurker here on the forum.

I have been messing with affiliate marketing for quite some time, but would like to take it a bit further.

What do you recommend for learning PHP? Does anyone have any good advice? (online classes, books, or some of the free tutorials online)?

first get a basic understanding of writing php code etc at w3schools.com

then a little deeper but thin explanation of some scraping etc go to
Scraping and Posting your way to money on the Internet - Oooff.com

after that, just keep programing and learn from where you can.

That's the route I was planning to take. I just didn't know if formal schooling would help speed things up. I like learning by doing anyway.

Another vote for tizag.com - really good for learning the basics. That toolbar looks handing, although at the mo I'm using php designer which has most of it built in. Def recommend that program.

Another way is to type php and the functions name in the address bar "php date" and go straight there.

Once you get used to it a good IDE to use also is PHPclipse. A plug in for the eclipse environment. Notepad++ is also excellent.

I've read this as well. It dives right into building forums, blogs, and other web apps. Great to get acquainted with php and mysql before building your first dynamic site.
