Google Not Actually Enforcing "New" AdWords Policy?

it will probably take some time to roll out the new rules and make sure everyone is in compliance

Might be because they said "all NEW ads" the ones you see may be old ads that were created before april 1

It's probably too resource intensive to automatically check all of the old ads at once. I suspect they'll phase it in over time, but it'd probably be a problem to do it all at once.

I have a few ads with fake URLs, but new landing pages ready to go (I don't want to kill good QS while I can still take advantage of the old QS).

Why don't they just ditch the "display url" field? Seems to me the easiest way of doing it.

I don't mean not display a url (although an extra line would be nice!), just only ask for the destination url and display that.

Delete the existing display urls and start showing the destination ones. Job done.

I disagree because sometimes your destination URL may look like this asite.com/whatever/anotherpage/landingpage when all you really need shown is Asite.com or sometimes if its two or three words its better to do something like this CoolLookingSite.com this is standard practice.

If they can automatically do this with your URLs then by all means but that still wouldn't work for some people because believe it or not people do test different versions of there URLs for example does Coollookingsite.com get more clicks then CoolLookingSite.com

If the second one gets more CTR that helps improve your QS so even though it may seem like a minor thing to get rid of there can be an uproar about the simplest change.

I'm not saying the new policy is right or wrong (I can kinda see both sides), but if the policy is the urls must be the same then it would make sense to just ask for one url.

You mean the shitty solution that Yahoo came up before Panama? No thanks.

Yep, they haven't touched my old ads that use "creative" disply urls.

I can see this new rule being a real buzz kill for eBay and Amazon, just to name two. The actual URLs they send surfers to tend to be crazy long and unattractive.
